You can bring it if it is in your checked luggage.
It cannot be on your carry-on.
You can even check swords, knives, and stuff, even hunting gear, just as long as it's checked.

I don't think you can do that without getting in trouble. It depends on the country you're trying to get into. But usually they REALLY don't like it when something like a knife comes up in a security check. So if you MUST take it with you, I advise you to hide it in one of your "big" bags (luggage) - the ones you don't take on the plane with you.

I would think if you can bring one it would have to be in your checked luggage and not your carry on. I would check with the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they set the rules of what you can and can not bring and I am sure the knives are probably mentioned somewhere on there.
