anything down the ear will annoy a cat and could cause damage, get the vet to look at it. somethimes an animal will shake so much it will cause bleeding in the ear causing it to swell. book an appointment and if the cat improves before then you can cancel. also make sure its not something like a new collar.

First let me say, sorry your kitty is unwell. It could be anything from earmites to an infection. My suggestion: try placing 2-3 drops of hydrogen peroxide into the affeected ear and massaging gently. This will hopefully dislodge any fluid. The cat will go nuts from the bubbling sound, but it does not hurt them. Also if it looks like coffee grounds it is earmites and you will need to get a medicine for it. You can find drops for that at walmart or any store that carries cat supplies.

What type of liquid? If it looks like pus, or odd-colored (green, yellow, off-white, white) it might be from an infection, and call your vet to have them look at it.
Otherwise, it might be water, and somehow the cat got it in his ear. If the cat still keeps scratching after a few hours, you still might want to check with your vet.

He's got ear mites. Of course, your vet is always the best option but you can buy an over the counter ear mite treatment. You might have to go to PetSmart or Petco to get it, Wal-mart might carry something that would work too.

Hey!
You need to take your kitty to the vet to get his ears cleaned. I just had to do this for one of my cats recently. Your cat is very uncomfortable so the sooner the better. In addition, you don't want the infection to get worse so take him to the vet as soon as you can.
Good Luck!

ear infection due to ear mites possible. A trip to the vet and some ear drops will clear it up in about 14 days.

It's a medical problem that needs to be addressed by a vet. Make an appointment to get him seen ASAP.
