When you believe something, you believe it. Kinda like believing that the sky looks blue, or that grass is mostly green or that it's hot in the summer. You believe it because it's true. Yeah, I'm positive my definition of belief is correct. I know God is true and so I believe He is true. If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, then you are saved. Belief in your heart just means, it has to be more than words, it means God knows whether your belief is true or it's something you pretend to in front of others.

Hi-
belief is the same as faith
I know that the way to heaven is through faith in Jesus because the Word of God, the bible says so. I know that the bible is true for many reasons, the main one being prophecy. All of the prophecy in the bible that has been fulfilled so far, has been 100% true.
It is not a matter of me or any one else being right about this teaching. It is the fact that God said it.
Acts 19:32 "believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"
The point of that is that God, who created the heavens and the earth, requires a payment for sin. Jesus when He died on the cross payed that payment. He rose again three days later. What we are being saved from is eternal separation from God for eternity.
This is all in the bible. If you are interested in this, read and study the bible, ask questions check answers against what it says.
If I were having this conversation with you face to face, I would give you a bible (if you wanted one) and ask you to read the book of John in the New Testament. Then I would offer to be available to help you with further bible study. SO if you have other questions along this line please feel free to email me.
You may get a lot of weird and crazy answers in this forum. If you are seeking the truth pray and ask God to reveal the truth to you.
""But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him, if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul." Deuteronomy 4:29

Peter once prayed, "please help my unbelief."
Don't be alarmed if you don't believe or even if you have no idea what belief is or if what people call "belief" is real.
After Christ died, was resurrected, and ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit came to earth to fulfill an important function. God, through the Holy Spirit, will give you personal evidence that Jesus Christ is your saviour. You are really asking some good questions. Belief is as elusive as the wind and none of us can grasp it through human strength. It is not visible to the eye, nor is it easily explained. God alone can give you reason to believe.
What made the disciples, who were hiding out together after they saw Jesus die, go forth so boldly to proclaim Christ and Him crucified? What made all of them but one die a martyr's death? What in the world made them change so much in their commitment to Jesus Christ? They believed because the Holy Spirit came to them on the Day of Pentecost and gave them the power to believe.
Belief, too, is a gift of God. He seeks you out and offers it to you. If you do not turn from the gentle stirrings of belief---no matter how implausible it may seem to you at the time---belief in God will become your greatest treasure. You will never be able to define it, but you will know beyond all doubt that Jesus Christ is worthy of all honor and praise. Do not fear honest belief. It will not take you into the bondage of rules and regulations or other manmade foolishness. Belief will give you a wonderful relationship with your creator and saviour.

How could you have been wrong if there if there is a heaven/hell to go to?
Assuming that you believe the authenticity of the Bible, you must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born into a carnal body, and died on the cross to pardon our sins.
If you doubt the authenticity of the Bible, pray with a sincere heart that God will show you, and He will. If you're looking for tangible proof, study some of the archeology digs and things that they have uncovered which proves many Bible facts.

Great question - one that many people much older than 14 should be asking.
The belief that's refered to in the bible is actually better translated "faith", which may be defined as living in a way that is dictated by your belief. Christ taught that you should value love and love others, and that love is self-sacrifice for the need of others.
God cannot be mocked - people will get what they deserve, according to what they knew was the right thing to do and what they did.

I went to look up the word believe to find out what the original word and meaning was in the Bible.
Basically Belief is the internal conviction that a thing is true

Belief: Thinking something's true, despite no evidence to assume such a thing is true. Only revoked when you do something that makes the rest of the followers mad at you... then you were never a "true believer"...
---
This is precisely why I'm an atheist. Assuming there's an infinite possibilities of gods with different combinations of properties to choose from, picking the "right" one that exists is picking one chance out of infinity. Which as we know from calculus: lim n->oo 1/n = 0. Yes, your chance of being right is 0. Ha! Take that!

"Belief" refers to a part of a wider spiritual or moral foundation which is Faith.
Why would anyone believe they are wrong? That is not comprehensible.
When we pass away we must stand before God and be judged on our lives.
If we believed then the judgement would be straightforward.
If you did not, there would be a lot of excuses flying.
To believe in a principle takes moral character regardless of what it is.
The belief" thing" just falls into place with accepting Jesus.

Yup, completely omitted 4000 years of its coaching and teachings , which include the parts putting forward it not in any respect transformations, in a 33 12 months span. i imagine, someplace in that lacking area of Yeshua's existence tale, he got here to the top that he'd been style of a jerk at the same time as he change into purely God. and then idea, "How am i able to be a higher jerk? i recognize, i will do something so logically contradictory that any smart human being might want to brush aside it, and then make believing it genuine to be the in straight forward words thanks to achieve heaven!"

In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God's grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgment.
