The average in the chicago suburbs for those ages is about $8 an hour. I know people who just do a flat $25 a day to $45 a day. I have a 9 week old son that when I called around for a babysitting for a few hours it was gonna cost me $30 so we decided we would bundle the little guy up and take him with us. I know that once a child is like 5 rates go down by alot.

I am 20 and watch a 3 year old and 1 year old full time 8 hrs a day and get 30 dollars a day which i hardly feel is enough because they are terrors but if your kids are well behaved i would say 30 would be a considerate amount

I figure $5 an hour per child. But for this, it is like being in daycare for a full day- where the going rate is $25 a day per child. I think $50 is a nice amount for someone giving up their time to help you out. Plus, if she did a good job, she will ba happy to do it for you again in the future.

I have triplets, who are 1 1/2, I rarely have a babysitter that's not family or a really close friend. The last time a had a babysitter she was my best friend's sister, she didn't want money, but I paid her $30 and she was fine with that.

It depends on where you live. I used to live in a place where babysitters made at least $13/hour, but then I moved somewhere where you can find one for $5.
If she's not taking the money, give her a nice gift of appreciation instead - this way she won't be able to refuse.

since she didnt want anything i would say you should at least give her 30 to 35 dollars because 8 hours is a long time to babysit a 3 and 2 year old

If she doesn't want money, maybe get her a gift certificate to a nice restaurant or the mall. Maybe around $50-$80 cause 8 hours is a long time.

I would say about $70 or $80 because she is only watching your two kids if it were a daycare you could pay her less but for a one time babysitting you should pay her atleast $10 an hr

Well, if she doesnt want money then you should just buy her a gift of somesort. Maybe a gift certificate to her favorite store.
Otherwise, I would say $50.00. 2 kids x 8 hours........that would be a nice amount.

I think 15.00 to 20.00 is fair for 8 hrs, with a 2 and 3 year old.If she refuses give her a giftcard from a local store.
