It's so impossibly simple.
No man enters the kingdom of Heaven except through Me. quoted from Jesus Christ
All you have to do to be saved is believe that Jesus, God's only Son, was sent to this earth and died on the cross for payment of your sins and rose from the dead on the 3rd day as proof that he was the one and only true Messiah. Once you except Him into your heart and pray and ask for him to forgive your sins and to live in your heart forever, your life will begin to shift into a whole new direction. Peace and love like you never thought possible. Finding someone to help you down this new path that is a believer would be a great asset.

Act 16:30 Then he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
Act 16:31 And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

If we believe in God, we will be saved. We are not saved by our good deeds, because no one is that good. We are saved by God's grace (kindness) which he gives us simply for believing in him. So, if all we need is faith, what is faith?

Jam 2:17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Act 2:37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"
Act 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

As James says, faith is not just believing that there is a God, because the Devil believes that. Faith is trust in God. If you trust God, you will keep his commandments. If you don't do what he says, you obviously don't trust him. He told those at Pentecost to repent and be baptized (they already believed). Of those, being baptized is easy. Repenting is hard. Repenting is turning away from a life of evil and promising to do what is good.

Mat 24:10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
Mat 24:12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.
Mat 24:13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

Being a Christian is not a choice. It is a lifestyle. You don't just get in the door and sit down. Every day requires work. If your salvation comes through faith, you can guess what happens if you lose that faith.

I hope this helps. Of course, reading the Bible as much as you can is a great idea. Find a church with people you can trust and who will help you. If you have further questions, or if you just want to talk, please email me.

3.Let Jesus inside your heart, and be sincere.

You do nothing to gain your salvation.
"By faith you are saved, through grace, and not of your own. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest we should boast" Eph. 2: 8&9

Salvation is a pure work of God. We do nothing to gain it, or show ourselves worthy of it. Read Ephesians 1. God choose those whom He elects for salvation from the foundation of the world. We bring nothing to the table except our sin. Christ finished the work of salvation and justification on the cross. We add nothing to it. When we make a profession of faith, it is only through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit can we do so. Therefore, salvation has already occurred. We are not saved by our words or actions, it is by God's sovereign grace and love. When we make that profession of faith and repent, we are simply recognizing are position in Christ and that we are of the elect. The work of salvation was already done. Faith and believing comes through the Holy Spirit, we, in our flesh, cannot whip up belief. For further reading, I suggest this sight:

Depends on what your view of "salvation" is...

Here is part of an excellent talk by Dallin H Oaks:

Good Christian people sometimes attach different meanings to some key gospel terms like saved or salvation. If we answer according to what our questioner probably means in asking if we have been “saved,” our answer must be “yes.” If we answer according to the various meanings we attach to the terms saved or salvation, our answer will be either “yes” or “yes, but with conditions.”
As I understand what is meant by the good Christians who speak in these terms, we are “saved” when we sincerely declare or confess that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. This meaning relies on words the Apostle Paul taught the Christians of his day:
“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom. 10:9–10).
To Latter-day Saints, the words saved and salvation in this teaching signify a present covenant relationship with Jesus Christ in which we are assured salvation from the consequences of sin if we are obedient. Every sincere Latter-day Saint is “saved” according to this meaning. We have been converted to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, we have experienced repentance and baptism, and we are renewing our covenants of baptism by partaking of the sacrament.
As Latter-day Saints use the words saved and salvation, there are at least six different meanings. According to some of these, our salvation is assured—we are already saved. In others, salvation must be spoken of as a future event (e.g., 1 Cor. 5:5) or as conditioned upon a future event (e.g., Mark 13:13). But in all of these meanings, or kinds of salvation, salvation is in and through Jesus Christ.

If you want to read the rest of the talk, it is at LDS.org, search in conference talks "saved".

Well, you should *first* choose a religion or belief system that resonates with you. Read up on a few .... you will be drawn to one more than the others. When you find one that sits right with you, it will be clearly explained what will take you back to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Admit that you've sinned that you're not perfect
Believe that God sent his Son to die on the cross for our sins and that he was raised from the dead on the 3rd day.
Commit your life to God which means that you will try your hardest to live for him.
You must truly believe in what you are praying or it doesn't mean anything.

After praying that you now are saved, a christian and when you die you will go to Heaven.
