hi all,me and my patner are first time buyers,we are buying in the process of getting things in order,we have been asked to get a report on the perlins?does anyone know what this is?thanks

A purlin is a horizontal timber member in your roof structure that ties the rafters of the roof together and is located under the rafters (the sloping timbers) 1/3 to 1/2 way up. Usually made from a timber section 75mm x 150mm
Perhaps you have wet or dry rot or beetle infestation I don't know but do get it checked or your roof may fall down

perlins are used in a cut roof, cut roof is an alternate to useing trusses! if you stand in your attic faceing felt, it is the timber that goes horizontal, supporting the rafters!
