Generally, anything which runs off the power supply direct, for example kettle, lamp, etc, something which you physically turn on does not have a standby mode. Anything controlled by a hand controller to turn the appliance on and off it, will have a standby mode and will be using a small amount of electricity all the time. Although appliances with a standby function, unless you need the clock, can off course simply be unplugged.

yes it is true that some appliances use electricity when they are turned off microwaves always use alittle bit of power unless it is the old type with the dial that you turn but the power that it uses is so little you wouldn't know the difference if you unplugged it as for lamps and coffe makers i don't think that they would use any power unless there is something special abou them

The answer to this question depends on the switch in the appliance. If the appliance has a mechanical switch that is purely on/off, then no it does not use any power.
However if you have an appliance that is a solid state switch, that is it uses electronic means to turn it on or off, yes it does use some power to keep it on alert, like your PC. But it is very very low.

No, they are on a Dead Current system. Houses etc:.. are Dead or grounded current. Cars are alternating current. The only componenets in house electrical stuff on all the ime are clocks, alarms, computer caland clocks etc:..

The capacitors in the cicuitry hold an electrical charge for years sometimes especially in TV's.
