Soldiers who believe in God fight and die for everyone's freedom, even Atheists.
Pro sports players who openly thank God for their talent and when they win openly display their thanks.
Just a question, non-inflammatory.

No, why would these things bother me? They're people proclaiming their faith, as our founding fathers stated they have a right to do. I am thankful for every single one of our soldiers, because they are shining examples of what makes America great.

Atheist soldiers fight and die for everyone's freedom, too. And they don't have to worry about a commandment banning killing.
I don't know of any openly atheist athletes, but I'm married to an atheist and have atheist friends. They just enjoy the race (even though NASCAR has a lot of Christian connections) or the game.

I am not bothered by those statements, but I am bothered by yours (and I'm not even a true Atheist)! If you want to ask "Just a question", don't make it inflammatory!
By saying that "soldiers who believe in God fight and die for everyone's freedom, even Atheists" are you devaluing the deaths of many soldiers that fight a good cause, regardless of faith.
Are you bothered by Atheist soldiers that fight and die for everyone's freedom, even yours?

The pro sports players actually does bug me. Not to the point that I think god actually helps them, I just think they're selling themselves short - not only themselves though, they also sell short the millions of man hours spent practicing with their teammates, not to mention the whole host of support staff that train, coach, and mend their bodies...
Does it bother you that atheists will give blood to the Red Cross? Aren't we just all 'immoral'? How does such a selfless act with so much altruism fit into that idea?
I don't mind people thanking god - I just want them thanking some other people first.

I have no problem at all with others believing in God, but there are a lot of people who appantly have problems with my skepticism.
I see the atheletes thanking God basically the same as thanking their parents for the good genes that make it easier for them to do their sport.

Well weak minded people who are willing to believe the nonsense story that they are dying for other's "freedoms" when in fact they are dying for the greed, power, and corruption of politicians and corporations are probably more likely to believe the nonsense that there is a god. And let's face it, pro athletes are pro athletes because they don't have the intelligence to be anesthesiologists. So it's expected that such lower intellects would believe in god. It no more bothers me than when my dog gets into the garbage. What else would I expect - he is a dog!

I don't think that any ones belief in god bothers atheists. it bugs me when athletes don't give themselves, their families, coach's etc. any credit and only thank god, but that's just me. as far as soldiers go...atheist do not associate freedom with religion. I think it would bother me if a soldier was fighting in the name of God, instead of fighting in the name of his/her country.
of course that is just my opinion.

Not really. Just the sports people who think God gives a damn if the Red Sox win are kinda funny.

Soldiers who DON'T believe in God fight for everyone, including Christians.
It doesn't bother me that other people (athletes) thank God, because I respects their beliefs.

Nope. As other have pointed out, war is very different from religion; as for the athletes, you know, the ones who don't thank God tend to thank their sponsors. God's really just another sponsor. No biggie.
