"Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you." John 5:14

I believe most illnesses are caused in one way or another by sin just not the way that some would think...Sin is what caused man to live outside of God's presence, in the garden there was no sickness. The farther away we are from God's presence the more people have sinned. It is purely scientific that as people through hundreds generations have procreated there have been more and more mutated genes and I think that those mutations have been a result of the greater sins of man. What we do to our environment - sin, that causes disease. What we do with our bodies - sin, that causes disease...so some illnesses caused by sin may be by our own sin and other illnesses may be caused by the sin of mankind for generations. Just my humble opinion! So do I think that if you have the flu it's because you are living in sin and God is bringing down His wrath upon you? The answer is a resounding NO!

God doesn't inflict pain on anyone.

Illness by the way comes from the devil but also comes because of you and I. Some illnesses are born out of poor sanitary habits, etc.

Anyway . . . . God may allow us to suffer with the illness and doesn't heal us right away for numerous reasons all explained in the Bible.

He also heals quite often as a result of prayer.

Does God inflict people with illnesses because of their sins? . . . . . . . no but sin does cause illness.

Not at all! Read John 9, the disciples asked Christ who's sins caused the man to be blind and he said neither the man's sins nor the sins of his parents. If you've repented and put your faith in Christ, then through His (Christ's) stripes you may be healed of all sickness and disease. Sickness is not a punishment from God because of someone's sins. If sickness were from the Father then Jesus would have been working against the Father because Jesus healed people.

No sin inflicts illnesses.

I don't think that God inflicts many of the diseases caused by sin. I attribute it to the lifestyle of sin, like taking drugs, unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise. The Bible says that when Jesus returns he will destroy those who destroy the earth, pollution and sort caused by the greed of man is destroying the very life of the planet. I think that we cause most of the illness' on our selves because we do not want to let go of sin which will destroy us.

God's punishments is not in the way you may think how He does it. But surely our sins have something to do with His curse. Our inability to take care and understand the laws of nature have caused us this devastating floods, tsunamis, typhoons, fires, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other natural phenomena. We polluted our bodies with aids, ebola and various infectious diseases through our promiscuities and irresponsible acts. We pollute our environment through own negligence and disregards of the effects on the air, plants, livestocks, natural habitats and waters of our products because of greed for money and power. We create and invent death machines and weapons of mass destruction in the guise of building energy and promoting peaceful co-existence by defense initiatives, we have lived against the commandments of God that He had no choice but to leave us under His curse. The worst of all, we have been commiting a great atrocities against Him by calling on the wrong names of God. WE are the ones who inflict ourselves with illnesses and chaos in the world. He does not need to do it, our own irresponsibilities are doing it. Our sins shall destroy us. And it will only be taken back when we go back to Him and follow his command....To live righteously as righteous man should.

No, God is not responsible for this. Satan and his demons are and people are so unaware of the spiritual war. God heals, whom he wills or not. God is the same today, yesterday and forever more. If he said it, then thats it he doesn't change his mind or plans. God forgives, but we will suffer consequences because of our sins. Let's say being permiscuous, maybe we get saved and are forgiven but we have AIDS because of sin.

Absolutely not. There are many who are afflicted who are saved. Many afflictions are the righteous, states the Bible. So, I don't feel that God inflicts us at all with anything. Satan does all the dirty work, although, God may allow it. There is a purpose and each person purpose must be revealed.

I don't really think so.... Why would sickness relieve you of your sins? It doesn't seem right, it seems more like punishment instead of a just lesson. Maybe he stirs someone's heart when they have an illness, but I don't really think he infects people with diseases without a purpose other than punishment.
