Actually, Tom Tom is all hype. Go and Get a Garmin i3. It will cost you @£120. Some of the Bells ans Whistles have been removed, but it gets you from A to B in the most direct way!
I have been using mine, for more than 6 months (I travel @ 1000 miles per week with work.) and it has never taken me on the 'High Road'. Several of my friends have all singing, all dancing Tom Tom units costing hundreds more. They all experience annoying and unexpected detours for no reason!

Classic example, was getting to my parents new house for a Barbecue. You had to go down a lane and turn right and then left at the end for about 200 yards. My Garmin did this faultlessly. Two Tom Tom's turned the user left and then after two miles they where turned right, up and over the mountain for 5 miles and then back down to the place they had been 7 miles before! As all units where navigating by post code, so no excuse!

Look on line, most of the user groups for Tom Tom have many users moaning about out of date maps. Garmin maps are updated every 12 months without fail!

Make your choice, but I spent £120 and have more accurate trip planning than my friends with their touch screen units costing several hundred more!
At the end of the day Tom Tom userswill always say theirs is best and so will Garmin users!

PS One of my friends bought his, because of the Bluetooth Handsfree function. His Tom Tom unit won't pair with his Nokia or his Sony! Nice one Tom Tom!

I don't know, could be,
a Guiness, a Pencil and a Scratch pad?

The GPS I use in Tokyo is made by pioneer, its pretty cool, with a
touch screen monitor. but I only use it when I am going somwhere I've never been before.
