Many men are like this and I blame their mothers. Over the years have you woken him up for school? I'm guessing he has never had to set an alarm and be responsible for getting himself up. He hasn't learned how to do so. Its time to send him to the School of Hard Knocks. Buy him an alarm clock and let him go. It may take him a while to realize that Mom isn't going to come in and wake him if he sleeps thru the alarm. The more you are his back up the longer it will take. If he doesn't learn now he will never be able to hold down a job.

A mother of four boys told me she used ice water on heavy sleeper thrown into bed at the same time alarm went off. She said no problems after that! Can you get arrested for that these days? It was 30 years ago.

Tell him to get some early nights. Sorry but at a young age your son isnt a heavy sleeper - he's LAZY !!! Tell him to stop burning the candle at both ends and if its the case he's not doing that then get medical advice because its not normal for a young man to sleep to the extent he misses work or college xxx

How heavy he sleeps won't make any difference. If he cannot excersize enough self control to get to bed at a reasonable hour in order to get 8 hours sleep, and cannot excersize enough self control to get out of bed when the alarm goes off, then nothing and nobody can help him. Please stop making excuses for him. If he gets thrown out it is his own fault and nobody elses. My son is such a heavy sleeper that nothing will wake him. But I was such a strict parent that I Insisted he got a full 8 hours sleep on shcool /college nights. He always woke on time.
If your son was a light sleeper but didn't get to bed before the early hours, he still wouldn't be able to get himself out of bed in time.
He needs to learn self discipline and your making excuses for him isn't going to help. He will always be able to make up excuses as to why such a thing didn't get done simply because he is used to having excuses made for him instead of accepting responsibility for his actions. Back off and let him make his own mistakes and learn that his actions have a direct effect on what happens in his life.

Make him go to bed earlier. I know us kids want to stay up as late as possible - but everyone has to realise if you need to be up a 7am, you can't be watching TV or playing games at 1am.
Just remind him that at the moment he's probably doing 15 or 20 hours a week - but if he gets kicked out of college he'll have to find a job where he's doing 35 or 40 hours a week.

A heavy sleeper, give me a freaking break. What planet were you born on? He's either just lazy, or on drugs. I bet you pay for everything, including an ATM card and credit card. He is using you. Let him fail, then kick him out, do him a real favor for once, he needs to grow up now.

If he hardly turns up at college evry single day, then yes unfortunatley there might be a risk of withdrawn your son from your his course (whatever area he is studying) at college. U must do something to your son. He is too lazy! Or how about this, set your sons alarm clock (if he has one) at the time he should get up and get ready 2 go 2 college. And if he is on EMA or Adult Grand (depends on his age) then he will unable to get either EMA or Adult Grant money into his bank account.

Sometimes I am a light sleeper, and other times there could be World War 3 under my bed, and I wouldn't hear it.

Sounds like he's smoking a lot a weed! Ask yourself why has he become like this? What is wrong? Some people just need to experience this and then they move on, ask him what he will do if he does get thrown out of college...

Alarm clock set for 1 hour before he has to leave. Second alarm clock - the old fashioned PRIIIIIIINNNGGGGG!!! type - at bedroom door ten minutes later so he has to get out of bed to turn it off. Put it in a saucepan so it really makes a racket.
