I've searched a couple of my favorite reliable Catholic news sources, and there is no mention of the Pope praying with a Muslem cleric. Don't confuse "dialogue" with "prayer". Dialogue means talking and clarifying definitions.
Here are several good articles that explain what is going on in Turkey.

So many hate the Pope for what he is, but none of these bigots have anything to say about what he teaches. It's because they don't know, and don't care. Their prejudice is much more comfortable.
The Pope is doing all he can to bring about peace, and is hated for it. The proof is in his words and actions. This is much better than an attitude that longs to see that Armageddon train rolling.

The pope gave a wonderfull example of tolerance after muslims trash him by taking his coments out of context and trying to find a reason for a new skandal . It seems like islamic world is looking for a pretext to start a new offensive against christianity . Why muslims are the most easy offenders on earth ?? We never hear a word of "offended budhist " or "offended hindus" or "offended christians" who burn ambasies or behead or put death threaths on movie makers ,writers ,journalists ,painters etc . Its always muslims and they are still asking why the whole world see islam as violent .When islamic world will have the maturity to accept critics without getting offended , the world will respect islam like any other religion .

It is like Ronald McDonald eating at Burger King, to save the rest of the world from starvation.
I think it is worth it.
Dialog is always better than killing, that is what MY religion taught me, it has nothing to do with thinking or asking questions.
To not talk would be to not think, that is when the killing and injustice starts.
I Prayed for the Pope's safety and for peace between all people during his trip, what is wrong with that?
Peace and God Bless us ALL!

The Pope places his life in jeopardy visiting a hostile country and he doesn't respect others religion?!
Somehow, I believe if they kidnapped him and crucified the Pope upside down, you would still persist in your hatred.
Pathetic.
Sorry I do not mean to offend...?!
My religion teaches through the example of Jesus through His Pope to think, ask questions and then act Christlike (even in Turkey).
Has your pastor risked his life for Christ lately?!

yes the pope comments were takenout of context he was by no means referring to islam in general or every muslim , there was a good relationship between the previous pope and the islamic faith , i think in reality the only christians that muslims have a problem with are those evangellical nutters in the U.S , I mean sure both systems have a variance in belief but the underlying value of both relgions is to love and respect God and to love and respect those around you are the same,I'm not a follower of either belief but i think your statement of it being a farce is a little short sighted ,

Catholic Church teaches:
The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day.
"It is my ardent hope that Muslim and Christian religious leaders and teachers will present our two great religious communities as communities in respectful dialog, never more as communities in conflict."
-- Pope John Paul II, Meeting with Muslim Leaders in Omayyad Great Mosque, Damascus, May 6, 2001.
With love in Christ.

The Pope is the leader of a large segment of the Christian world. He's trying to give an example of tolerance, and to make up for the bad reaction and misunderstanding that came from his remarks at Regensburg. Give him a break. I don't think he's insincere.

True Christianity is all about love and forgiveness; the Good Pope had no other choice but to pray with the cleric.

What's wrong with the Pope and a Muslim cleric praying together? They are both praying to the same god--Satan.
