Crystal Meth, if so how long and how did you get out of it? Do you have any long term side effects from it? I did it for 7 years I've been clean 31/2 years and it still haunts me from time to time.

Hi Gracie... Good for you, if you have been clean that long you are past the hardest part. After using for 3-31/2 years, I realized where I was headed ( morgue or jail ) and I quit... thirteen years ago this month, believe me it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. After all that time I still have the dreams ( I am sure you know what I am talking about ) , and still can swear I can smell it in the air sometimes, your brain seeks it out... Frost on the windshield in the morning, and the first thing that pops into my mind is crackback, even after all these years. Meth is such an insideous drug, it changes the way you think while you are strung, and it takes a while clean to get your prospective back. You are to be commended for taking control of your life, I know it is very difficult to stick to the straight and narrow...Try to avoid stressful situations if possible, stress is probably the main factor to cause you to relapse. Try not to use other things as a substitute if possible ( excessive alcohol, pot ) I tell you from my heart, I have learned all I know about it the hard way, not something I read in a book, and know where you are at. My heart goes out to you, it truly does. Please write me if you need a pep talk, or someone to talk about it with. I would recommend NA, but I attended two meetings and decided that it was not for me, it just made things worse being in a room full of people talking about it...I wish you the best of luck, please write me and I will help if I can...

I was addicted to it for a little over a year. I then got arrested for it and stopped afterward. I stopped it not because I was arrested. I stopped because I was loosing my family and friend's trust. I was acting crazy; yelling, fights, being paranoid and many other examples. I still have dreams about it every once and a while, and when I wake up, I can some times smell it and taste it. It's hard, but I keep in mind the things that I've earned back, and the things that I lost, and the time I waisted in jail(two months). Even though it's been seven years since I've done it, it does still haunt me from time to time as well. I don't know what to say regarding what it will take to make those times easier, but I do know that they come less and less often. Please stay away from that stuff!! If you need to talk or something, let me know. I'd be happy to chat through email and then give you my phone number or something to help you through it!!!

Congratulations for being clean as long as you have. It takes a lot of work and you should be proud of yourself. No, I have never done crystal meth.
