I have a kitten that is about 7 weeks old. She is very healthy and active, but she whines when she eats and when she uses her litter box. She also likes to rub her face on the furniture all of the time. I have had kittens in the past and none of them have ever done any of these things. Any ideas? Thanks

Have you taken your kitten to the vet yet to be checked? There may or may not be something wrong with it. It is always wise to take your pet to the vet. Regardless if it is acting funny or not. Check ups are important not only for humans but animals as well.

As for the rubbing, this is normal for kittens and cats to do. It is a way to establish their territory and to spread their scent thru out the house.

As for the whining or crying when she eats, may be just a simple vocal thing she does when she is wanting to be petted or loved. Some kittens and cats are more vocal then others. As for the whining when she goes into her litter box, sounds like she needs to see the vet. Bring a sample of her stool when you go to the vet. Place the stool sample in a baggy and give it to the vet. Your vet will check to see if she has any worms.

Once you have taken her to the vet for a thorough examination both of you can relax and be happy together! Pets are wonderful creatures for us humans who are lonely. They can make our moods lighter and provide us with love and friendship and companionship for many years to come! Good luck to you and your pet.

First of all, seven weeks is WAAAAAYYYYY too young for that baby to have been taken away from her mother. 8 weeks is the bare minimum, and I got my kitten at 8 weeks and I suspect he's suffering from it.

I would say the whining while eating is probably related to not being with her mommy/littermates anymore. Rubbing her face on the furniture...well that's marking behavior, usually cats will do that to furniture and also to people they like. She'll probably take on the behavior of kneeding and drooling/suckling on you, which is leftover from early kittenhood too, meaning she misses feeding from the mommy kitty.

Now as for whining while in the litterbox, that's a difficult one. could be she's constipated. Could be other problems. Take her to the vet and get her checked out if you havent already, because poopie problems can take a bad turn, especially while she's so young. You could possibly feed her better food, too. Make SURE she's getting Kitten food, in the VERY LEAST. Good luck!

Is your kitten Siamese or Siamese mix??? This would definetely solve the whining problem. Also she is marking her territory by rubbing her face on the furniture. There are scent glands in a cats face. Do you have other cats in the house?

Call your Vet and tell them what your kitten eats and how often it eats, and how often it uses the cat box. They may ask you to look at the feces to see if it is loose or abnormal looking.Rubbing its face on the furniture is the way a cat marks their territory. My cat does that on the kitchen cupboards and on my clothing.
Good luck and have fun with the cute little thing.

Your kitty may be in distress. I give my cats "Laxatone" when they are constipated. This is a kitty laxative that you can buy at your local pet store. BUT ASK YOUR VET FIRST if this okay for your kitten because she is still very young. If you don't have a vet, just call one and ask/tell them about your cats behaviour and what it is you can do. If they tell you to bring the cat in, tell them you would like some suggestions first that you can try at home and if those don't work, then you will bring your cat in.

Hope this helps.

Rubbing her face on the furniture its normal, she is just trying to get use to her new home. Whinning might not be normal and you need to take her to the vet

She may be a bit constipated...try putting a bit of the oil from a can of tuna over her kitten chow...not too much or or she'll make a real mess.

The rubbing is normal...she learned it from her mommy.

Have her checked out by a vet. The face rubbing thing is odd, and she may be itchy, or she may just be weird. She might have digestive problems with the eating and pooping. GL

She is rubbing her face on things to spread her scent (pheremones). It is not a bad thing. She may be whining for attention or in pain if she does it when she is peeing...
