We send the organisation 30 dollars a month and the use it to help her get a good education, healthy food and clean water, and a good doctor. we write her letters and she writes back. I've been a Partner in Hope with St Judes Children Hospital since the 80's. I watched a special on TV and it broke my heart. They only asked for 18 bucks a month which is not much but I guess every little bit helps. Each month they send you a picture of a child under their care with a story about each of them, which gives me the opportunity to say a prayer for that specific child. It really blesses my heart. The children are so innocent and brave. I've noticed that through out those years you hear of many more success stories then when I started, They are really doing great works there.

I hate giving to charities in the United State because the media doesn't cover it so I donate to the Polar Bear charity. Feed the Polar Bear in the North Pole.

Yes, I give to many charities.

Specifically I give to ones that benefit the needy in my community, to the arts, to nature/conservation related charities, and to my school.

I try to be sure that the charity makes good use of the money that I donate. You can check them on guidestar.org.

I give to a lot of organizations, but not if they call me, and not if they don't have a web site that validates what they do. Thank goodness for caller ID.

The two links I have below are really great for ideas. I really like the concept of Heifer Intl. It provides livestock to people so that they can earn money to feed and clothe their families.

There are also a few microbanks that loan money to women in developing countries. These women have to pay the loans back, but it gives them financing to get started in their own small businesses, which also helps them feed their families.

I find I usually give to the charities that benefit children or battered women during the holidays. During the year I give to American Heart or American Cancer - two diseases that took family members from me.

I give to local charities, not "big" ones which are sometimes not that ethical.
