Hear hear! This Christ fellow didn't even stay dead. I suppose that "Jesus had a bad weekend for your sins" didn't play well with the marketing department.

I understand your question and if you are thinking about the fact that Jesus knew that his father would be there upon his death and that he would be given much greatness, for his sacrifice then I could see your point. However, from the time that Jesus began to suffer the crucifixion, with the thrones and the beatings and the mockery and the nails through the wrist and the vinegar in his mouth when he thirsted and the spear in his side, when he was dying even through all of that it might not have been the greatest sacrifice of all. The greatest sacrifice was from that very moment that he took on the sins of the world he was separated from his heavenly father. God would not look upon him he would not support him he would not even whisper in his ear. For God has nothing to do with sin. To know the love of Jesus is to understand in part how incredibly painful it was for him to be separated from his father.

Have you ever felt bad or guilty for something bad you have done? Imagine the guilt and depression Jesus felt the moment ALL the sins that were ever, or ever will be commited, were laid upon him. Not to mention the public humiliation he endured while nailed to the cross. Imagine the sting of death he felt as he gave up the ghost, carrying with him the pain of every sin of every person who ever has, or will live. He did this for everyone. Now maybe some who post here will understand why a "loving" God would send anybody to hell. He sent his Son, who he loved most of all, as a ransom, to pay for the penalty for OUR sins. All you have to do is accept this free gift. If you reject it, you deserve the punishment you get. (I don't mean you personally, but all in general).

I have to completely disagree with the people here saying "Oh yes, it was very painful!". If god existed and jesus truly was his son, he would have been absolutely 100% sure that after the pain of his death, there would be eternal bliss in heaven. It doesn't take omniscience to see that's a good deal. I'm sure that ANYONE who was as sure that they were going to heaven as jesus must have been would easily go through a few days of pain in exchange for ETERNAL bliss. It's not that special at all.

It would be as if someone told me that if I gave up all my money and possessions to them, and waited three days, they would give me in return more money than I could ever spend in my lifetime. Gee, what a sacrifice.

I think it was a HUGE sacrifice. I think that Jesus had faith in his father's plan and knew that if he followed through with his calling he would be blessed....this is what is meant by God taking care of him. I don't think that this was a painless or easy task and I don't think there is a person today who would be willing to do this all for the benefit of mankind...

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave His ONLY begotten son, that who-soever believeth shall not perrish, but have everlasting life.
Jesus sacrificed his life, so that we might live, because he loves us....I think he is a super hero. you probably already know this, you think it's funny, but be careful...I wouldn't make a mockery of it. And it makes you look foolish. read the bible...you too will understand the truth. God bless, and Jesus loves you too! dont forget.

Yes he did make a huge sacrifice. If you do not think it was, you can certainly drink from the same cup then tell me how much of a sacrifice it would be. Or better yet why not watch your only child be put through the same treatment and tell me how big of a sacrifice was made.

The Apocalypse Of Saint John
Chapter 22

11 He that hurteth, let him hurt still: and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is just, let him be justified still: and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still. 12 Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to his works. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. 14 Blessed are they that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb: that they may have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

16 I Jesus have sent my angel, to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and stock of David, the bright and morning star. 17 And the spirit and the bride say: Come. And he that heareth, let him say: Come. And he that thirsteth, let him come: and he that will, let him take the water of life, freely.

Yes it was a big sacrifice. Jesus did not have to take on the assignment his Father gave him. He did it willingly. Do you think you could endure all of what Jesus went through? I don't think so.

I'm certainly not worth anyone dying in my place. That's why it was a big sacrifice because Christ died for those who did not deserve it. A person might die for a good person, but the idea that a righteous person would die for a person who did not deserve it is overwhelming.

Because of sin, we are witnesses of the reality of sin and what it does. That is why God had to die to redeem us and he will come again and save us and rid the universe of sin, sinners and the devil Satan forever.

Before there was sin, no one knew really what it was it was just a bad thing. But sooner or later it would arise and Lucifer initiated it and therefore in God's infinite wisdom sin is allowed to be played out so that the character of God will be seen and that all the warning before was warranted.

Sin will never again rare its ugly head because God will not allow it again and we wont either because we see what it causes.

Even God had to pay for sin by the death of His only son, which was no ordinary death - no man or woman on earth every had that death - he died for the world everybody who died already died for themself.
