No, like Kyle M said one is a measure of weight and the other volume. One ounce is 1/16 of a pound, a measurement of weight One fluid ounce is 1/16 of a pint, a measurement of volume. If you take a fluid ounce of molten lead and a fluid ounce of water the lead would weigh much more then the water, so there is no relation between the fluid ounces and the weight. If you take an ounce of gold and an ounce of feathers they would weigh the same but you would need a much bigger bag to hold the feathers then the gold.

yes it's the average size of a shot glass. you can also buy these things called jiggers one side is an ounce and the other side 2 shots. (depending on the one you buy but all will have one side that is an ounce) that's the fool proof way to measure it. some shot glasses are made larger. also a lot of the airplane bottles you buy at the abc store are one ounce.

Take something that weighs exactly a pound. Cut this whole unit in half to make two units.
Cut each of these units in half to make four units. Cut these four units in half to make eight units. Finally cut the eight units in half to make sixteen little units.
Now take one of the sixteen units and examine it. That is an ounce.
