Military men have to take their hats off when entering a building. Shouldn't the same curtesy apply to everyone?

Women wearing hats are the only exception to this etiquette rule. They are allowed to wear their hats both indoor and outdoor at any and all times if desired.

All ppl should remove their hats in public. Its just respectful, but usually noone forces it today. It isnt a sin to keep it on, and its up to the person I guess. Some say there hair is too messy to take off the hat, and thats popular today. For most ppl with ettiquette, they do remove they hat.
But, it isnt a salvation issue and God personally doesnt care, so do what you think is the right thing. I always ask WHAT WOULD JESUS DO, if I dont know what to do in a situation. Usually the answer is clear. He would do what is consdiered polite, as long as it wasnt sin.

Hats should never be worn in restaurants, as they conceal your face and prevent eye contact. Eye contact is considered necessary in our culture for establishing trust and conveying an open and honest personality, as well as respect. So yes, hats should always be removed indoors; in recent years that's a bit of etiquette that seems to have fallen to the wayside somewhat.

It is very impolite to leave on your hat when entering any establishment. Etiquette teaches that a 'gentleman' should always remove his hat indoors, and also as a greeting toward females or those in rank. Removal of your hat shows respect to those around you -- it is very rude to be disrespectful.

What does it matter? I'm not going to put it down or anything, I just really want to know. I can understand if it is a very large, distracting hat, but really, where's the harm in it? It never offends me when I see people wearing hats in any building, but I usually take mine off anyway, since so many people get hung up about this issue.

Dress hats for women are ok, but not really casual ones like baseball caps. Men should always take their hats off.

No, it is not polite...to answer your question.

If someone leaves a hat on or supports someone leaving one on inside, they aren't interested in being polite. That doesn't mean that they can't do it, legally. It just means that they aren't interested in being polite. NO laws against being impolite, unfortunately.

If they get defensive or emotional, which only young people would, then they REALLY aren't worried about politeness.

Accept and ignore...
