My question refers to modern Catholics and not the few bad apples in the past...people practicing today. Please do not disrespect my religion; it is childish and narrowminded..Thank you and have a nice day.

Examples of childish content:
"The priest gives you wine. The schoolgirl outfits and skirts.
you can pull a Darwin and repent on your deathbed. nothing
inquisitions, killing protestants, witch burnings, holy crusades, having catomites, the power and wealth of the few held over the suffering of the masses. these are some of the things catholics are great at"----UM clearly that isn't modern, practicing Catholics.
"You can kill people, and it is OK, as long as it is for the good of the church"-- that is a stereotype associated with the Italian mafia...totally ignorant

Oh yeah and i love this answer:
"What about the pedophile Coaches, teachers, Uncles, Preachers, Imam's, Rabbi's, Politicians, Policemen, Athletes, Businessmen, Actors, etc.? Are you going to avoid ALL people in those groups because of a few within it?" --New Catholic
Like he said "stereotypes"...people on here seem blunt, ignorant, and into stereotypes.
Thank you.

PART OF BEING AN AMERICAN and a LIBERAL THINKER is respecting all walks of life, all religions, and all cultures. People should speak constructively and politely. Being Low Key and somewhat reserved and LISTENING is a better all-around policy than being some know-it-all. Thank you, and have a nice day.

One Hundred Fifty Reasons I'm Catholic
And You Should Be Too!
the top ten are listed, the rest are here:
http://www.ourcatholicfaith.org/reasons.html
1. Best One-Sentence Summary: I am convinced that the Catholic Church conforms much more closely to all of the biblical data, offers the only coherent view of the history of Christianity (i.e., Christian, apostolic Tradition), and possesses the most profound and sublime Christian morality, spirituality, social ethic, and philosophy.
2. Alternate: I am a Catholic because I sincerely believe, by virtue of much cumulative evidence, that Catholicism is true, and that the Catholic Church is the visible Church divinely-established by our Lord Jesus, against which the gates of hell cannot and will not prevail (Mt 16:18), thereby possessing an authority to which I feel bound in Christian duty to submit.
3. 2nd Alternate: I left Protestantism because it was seriously deficient in its interpretation of the Bible (e.g., "faith alone" and many other "Catholic" doctrines - see evidences below), inconsistently selective in its espousal of various Catholic Traditions (e.g., the Canon of the Bible), inadequate in its ecclesiology, lacking a sensible view of Christian history (e.g., "Scripture alone"), compromised morally (e.g., contraception, divorce), and unbiblically schismatic, anarchical, and relativistic. I don't therefore believe that Protestantism is all bad (not by a long shot), but these are some of the major deficiencies I eventually saw as fatal to the "theory" of Protestantism, over against Catholicism. All Catholics must regard baptized, Nicene, Chalcedonian Protestants as Christians.
4. Catholicism isn't formally divided and sectarian (Jn 17:20-23; Rom 16:17; 1 Cor 1:10-13).
5. Catholic unity makes Christianity and Jesus more believable to the world (Jn 17:23).
6. Catholicism, because of its unified, complete, fully supernatural Christian vision, mitigates against secularization and humanism.
7. Catholicism avoids an unbiblical individualism which undermines Christian community (e.g., 1 Cor 12:25-26).
8. Catholicism avoids theological relativism, by means of dogmatic certainty and the centrality of the papacy.
9. Catholicism avoids ecclesiological anarchism - one cannot merely jump to another denomination when some disciplinary measure or censure is called for.
10. Catholicism formally prevents the theological relativism which leads to the uncertainties within the Protestant system among laypeople.

WOW
10 answers and only one has anything remotely to do with the Catholic Church. Sadly, there was a time when I would have also given such an answer.
Don't believe all of the stereo-types that ignorant people say about Catholicism and Catholics.
What about the pedophile Coaches, teachers, Uncles, Preachers, Imam's, Rabbi's, Politicians, Policemen, Athletes, Businessmen, Actors, etc.? Are you going to avoid ALL people in those groups because of a few within it?
All Catholics are not perfect, but the faith itself is. There is no group of humans on earth that are perfect, never has and never will.
I studied the Catholic Church for over 20 years before Joining, so I am not going to try to explain it in a paragraph on this forum.
I am going to suggest you seek your own answers, and ask directly, you can start by going to:
www.Catholic.com
or
www.Caholic.org
Then ask a Priest, find out the truth for yourself, you will be free to join, or to not join.
The Catholic Church is not a cult of mind controlling Waco's. If you do want to join, it will take about 8 months of classes designed to explain fully the good and even the bad in the history of the Faith that Started with Jesus and then to Peter.
Good Luck, I hope your search answers your questions, and whatever happens,
God Bless you and your Family!
Peace!

Jesus gathered about Him a group of disciples, and called it His Church. He promised that this Church would last until the end of time. Jesus declared that all men must believe and be baptized, that is, connected with His Church is some way, in order to be saved.
The Catholic Church possesses the marks of the Church established by Jesus Christ. These include unity, holiness, catholicity, and apostolic.
The Catholic Church gives evidence of miraculous strength, permanence, and changeableness, thus showing the world that it is under the special protection of God.
Not all the truths of Jesus Christ are revealed for us by God in written form, some are found only in Divine Tradition. Divine Traditions are the truths revealed by Jesus and His Apostles through word of mouth, though they were described by the early Church Fathers.
I love my Catholic Faith.

I can go to any Catholic Church in any City anywhere in the world and the service will be exactly the same (except for the language of course). Sit, kneel, stand, cross yourself, sit, stand, kneel...you get the picture.

The true and real presence of Jesus, the Christ!!! I would not know what to do without him there in the Blessed Sacrament. Everything else , of which there is a ton, is little or nothing when it comes to that.
