If it is a mix that you add only water to, I would toss it. Those types usually have a powdered milk or egg supplement in them that could potentionally cause illness.

If it is a mix that only has sugar, flour and the other dry components, I may chance it.

Either way, these most likely will not be the best cookies ever. There are reasons why we have expiration dates on food. Flour, after a certain amount of time, will grow small bugs on it's own.

Unless you are in a dire situation, which there aren't any I can't think of right now, I would toss the mix and buy another or make the cookies from scratch. Sugar cookies aren't too hard!!

I'm sure it's fine. but why use a mix?

Ethel's sugar cookies
3/4 cup butter or shortening or combination
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

cream butter and sugar together. beat in egg and vanilla sift in dry ingredients.

roll out to 1/4 inch thick, cut out and bake at 375 for 8-9 minutes

This is pretty fascinating. Its interesting how there was consistently the theme of there being a 'contrast' to everything else; coke/sprite, boy version/average age, you/another you, him/another him. Perhaps it is your subconscious trying to reconcile two versions of something or someone that you see incompatible. The fact that you were up high in the vines may signify something important. People typically identify being high up with fear of some sort, like "a fear of heights". Seems like after the two versions of you talked over your differences then you were with the guy. Its as if you needed to figure out your own self first before you subdued to his desire to spend time with you. Strange that you ate the cookie only when you had something to drink, and you drank the spite against your will for coke. And why wasnt it milk? Soda is artificial, why drink that over milk? Especially when you didnt want the sprite to begin with. Seems you seem to be accepting things other than you dont like. Strange as well the double versions of everyone. Its interesting how the things he wrote down on the paper had to do with describing himself. Maybe you need for him to be more explicit and clear about who he is and what he wants.

If tightly sealed it will be fine but you may need to add Baking powder to wake it up - 1 teaspoon per 2 cups. The expiration date is based on the combination of ingredients and determined by which would fail first - usually the leavening agent. Good Luck!

Probably, but why? Buy another one. Then again, it won't kill you, so if you aren't worried about spending time on the cookies and having them not taste right, go ahead--they might be fine.

Too old. Just because it's dry doesn't mean it won't every go bad.

You could keep it for another 30 years, attempt to eat it and make it to the Guinness Book of Records. (or the morgue)
