I have heard that if you crush an aspirin and put it directly on the tooth that it helps. I don't know if it works, though.

Hope you can get to the dentist soon!

A toothache usually indicates an infection. Best bet would be to go to a dentist or family physician and get some antibiotics.
Orajel works temporarily....but not long enough if the pain is really bad.
Gargling with warm salted water seems to help my husband...

I feel your pain! I've been having dental problems for years. I'm getting all my teeth pulled (the remaining ones anyways) and getting dentures on Wednesday. I use Orajel Maximum Strength and to sleep at night because I was waking up every 10 minutes in pain, I used Orajel Nighttime. It is a little bit thicker and stays in place a lot longer than the normal Orajel. It has a horrible taste, but it doesn't last too long. Good luck sweetie!

1 whole clove. Put in directly where the pain is, then just suck on it. It numbs the gums and nerves for about 15 min. Which is about how long the OTC desensitizing tooth stuff works for. Much cheaper too. Good luck and I do really sympathise for you. Toothaches suck.

going to the dentist is the best; their are lots of toothache medicines you can buy over the counter.also if nothing is working its hitting the nerve so the only thing that will probably help is getting it pulled.hope you get to feeling better had toothache before it hurts I KNOW.

I really do sympathise, it's the worst pain.
Take ibuprofen, 2 hours later take paracetamol, 2 hours after that take more ibuprofen and so on.
Get some ice in a tea towel or a pack and hold it to your face where the pain is, keep it there, it really will help

Hey there, I had the worst pain last year, it kept me up at night. I tried everything over the counter that I could think of. Finally, I just couldn't take it anymore and went in to see my dentist, turned out my molars had come in and he decided to take them out, and boy, what a relief! I suggest going in to your dentist and seeing if he/she can help you. Will be so worth it in the end, trust me. =) (I HATE going to the dentist!)
