I think there must be a name for this -- as one wouldn't be able to eat it, would have to even spit it out if attempted and start feeling anxiety/lightheadedness, ill.

I am in absolutely no danger of coming down with that phobia! (Unfortunately.)

We always check the kids halloween candies very carefully before allowing the kids to get into them. We throw out everything that doesn't have an intact wrapper. And all wrappers are checked for air leaks by squeezing. If the wrapper puffs up like a squeezed balloon when squeezed, it means it's still air tight. If it's not it goes in the garbage. You can't poison candy without first gaining access to it.

Fear of Halloween: Samhainophobia
Fear of Candy: Glucophobia
Fear of being poisoned: Iophobia

Some sort of combination of the three perhaps? No, you're Iophobic. Afraid of being poisoned. I'm so sorry to hear about this. Luckily it comes but once a year.

I hope you can take solice in knowing that in my city (san diego), only one person has ever been poisoned on Halloween, by their own uncle. Halloween candy poisoning is a myth installed in the heads of children.

I hope you're able to get some therapy. There's something much larger behind this.

I think this is due to the media influencing you, every halloween there are these stories of people finding razor blades in apples etc.. perhaps subconsciously you think about these horror stories every time u try that candy that the old women at the end of the road gave you

When I was ten years old, my dad threw away my WHOLE BAG OF CANDY when I got home because he said he didn't want to have to "search it all". He wasn't just searching for poison. He was also weary of razors and things too. I was pissed. When I have kids I'm never going to do that to them.
