Once opened, how long does ginger wine keep and should it be stored in the refrigerator?

Once its opened it never keeps at its best for very long. I wouldnt touch it if it was more than afew days opened...;

Yes always store opened ginger beer in the refrigerator but as you probably know you must remove all other consumable products first. Ginger beer is produced by a fermentation process using yeast, yeast is a fungi and the fungi can and will get onto other food products resulting in a high probability of it reproducing with a 90% chance of anyone eating the contaminated food will get Candida albicans

Ginger Wine is NOT the same thing as Ginger Beer

Ginger wine may be safely stored refrigerated for up to 6 months after opening. It is a high sugar and low pasteurized wine great with soda, vodka or on its own and it makes a fine sauce.

I read recently that spirits and fortified wine can be kept for six months. Does ginger wine count as fortified? I don't think you'd have to keep it in the fridge, just somewhere cool.

It should hold in the fridge for quite awhile but just remember that any wine once open and exposed to the air starts to oxidize so the longer you keep it the less flavorful it will become over time.

not very long... but try sealing the bottle or can with clingfilm. I have done this after a wedding when there were about six bottles started but I had this idea of trying to save them... it worked for a week and by that timer we had drunk them off as part of a shandy........
