buddishts are agnostic, they believe in a god, but that nothing can be known about him/her/it cause him/her/it is divine while they're not.

christainity was started by Jesus of Nazareth, the early followers were mostly jewish and already believed in God.

Christianity has the same God as Judaism, but also belives that Jesus is the son of God/ God in the human form, by his death it is possible for people to go to heaven because Jesus's death was the atonement for sins.
Christians follow the teachings of jesus, the most important one being 'love one another'

Buddhism has many of the same teachings as christianity(love each other, greed=bad)

except buddhists belive in the karma cyle, that is, depending on thier deeds, after death they will be reincarnated, good people get good lives, bad people get bad lifes.

By following the 8 fold path(the teachings of buddha), one can escape the karma cycle and reach Nirvana, which is more of a state of being than a place.

the dali lama is a budda(someone who has reached Nirvana) reincarnated out of a will to help other people
(he chose to reincarnate himself so as to help others reach Nirvana)

The Christian God is also the Hebrew God so that dates back a few thousand years. Christianity wasn't until after Christ but even then it didn't get it full start until Emperor Constantine I of Rome issued the Edict of Milan in 313, which fully legalized Christianity in the Empire, for the first time, and the Council of Nicaea in 325 which set the stage for the different Christian factions to come together and debate and unify the Christian faith; these actions are considered major factors in the spreading of the Christian religion. His reputation as the "first Christian Emperor" has been promulgated by historians from Lactantius and Eusebius of Caesarea to the present day, although there has been debate over the veracity of his faith. This debate stems from his continued support for pagan deities and the fact that he was baptized very close to his death.

Christianity is rooted in the Lord God of Israel. And Moses wrote the Torrah. Genesis God created the heavens and the earth. There have always been believers in God.

Buddhists, seek enlightenment to try to achieve by works, meditations, etc. The original Buddha didn't deny Christ, but never found Christ. He was alive before Jesus was born in a Manger. The promised Messiah (Jesus Christ) was prophecied in the Torah and Prophets of the Israeli people. The Lord God is revealed throughout the Bible. Buddha did his best to go by conscience & land laws. He did sin though, like all people have sinned and gone astray.

Christianity has it roots in Judism. You have to read the book of Genesis. God told man about the beginning of the world as we know it. That man was Adam. Adam carried that information to others. Moses wrote about the history of the begining.

other religions seem to use these "greek" god to tell the story of the beginning. hindism/animist

The difference between Christiany and all other religions is GRACE and Relationship. All world relgion teach...if your good outweighs your bad, they also teach how man gets to God.

Christian teaches that we are all sinners for a holy and just God. Scpriture state that the price for sin is death. God told Adam, the first man, not to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life else he would die. When adam ate from the tree he did not fall over dead. At the moment he ate...he died spiritual. He was now spiritual separeated from God...the relationship is broken.

The only acceptable payment for our sins is the sacafice of Jesus. A man who knew no sin. In the old testiment, there had to be a lamb to be sacaficed for our sins. (atonement) The new testament says that Jesus is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Our beleif in Him and recognizing His sacrafice sets our relationship right with a Holy and Just God.

I would be happy to help out with the paper. I am youth pastor and have training in scriptures. I have also have done extinsive research on world religions and ministried to Muslims, Buddest, and Hindi.

Christianity started with Christ. It started out with mostly Jews who were following Jesus. Jesus did interact with other peoples during his time on earth such as the Samaritan woman, but Christianity did not really spread to the gentiles until after Christ had died and been raised from the dead.

If you want a great history of the spread of chritianity after Christ you could read the book of Acts. It is not exhaustive but it is a great place to start.

Christians also believe in the Old Testament

When man can came down out of the trees he rubbed two sticks together and said let there be light and there was light. He had made fire. Shaman took this magic and told the people it was God and if they didn't do as he told them they would go to hell. That's the beginning of God and religion. It didn't get more sophisticated with a Buddha until much later. Kisses Betty.

Buddhists believe Buddha was a Avatar of God! Else, why would they have a gigantic statues of Buddha and others in their temple? Why would they write on some banners and expect the wind to pass them the wisdom! Buddhism is for peace and I respect that though!

Christianity is a religion. Buddhism is a philosophy. You cannot compare them. It is like comparing an orange to an apple.

A person can be a Christian and still live by the philosophy of Buddhism. It is a way of living more than a doctrine system.
