I think that the most important thing is to let them know that you understand them and their reasoning. You should always try to acknowledge their good intentions. Also, do your best to show that you are giving it your all in school. Don't always go out, stay in on a Friday or Saturday night every now and then and explain that you want to do some school work or catch up on some sleep. (You don't actually have to do it, but just pretending will show that you are making mature decisions about your life). Lastly, when your parents disagree with you, try not to flip out in disgust. One you show your angry emotions you will never get what you want. The best way is just to be calm and try to hide that you are upset. Trust me, it took me 23 years to realize this.

Okay one way to make your parents treat you older is to take on more responsiblities, im not too sure how old you are but GET A JOB, that way you can pay for more things on your own, when you parents see that your working and your paying for your own stuff they will def start to treat you like an adult, because you'll be acting like an adult. Now if your only like 15 or something or in high school, you just need to continue to do good in school and help out around the house more. Make it known to your parents that your grownig up and show it by helping out, they always treat kids better when they start to pull their weight.

For starters, don't lie to them. Ever, about anything. Even if you have to fess up about bad stuff, they will respect that you told the truth in the end. It takes more maturity to be honest about bad decisions than it does to hide them.

Also, do what you say you will do. When you're leaving on Friday night, say you'll be back at 10 (or whatever). And actually be back before that time. Or, if you think you're going to be late, call them and say "This is where I am, I'm on my way home but don't want you to worry about me."

Take responsibility for your own actions and the consequences of your actions. Don't try to involve other people by blaming them for things that happen to you, or getting them to bail you out of problems that you get into.

Mature people assume responsibility for themselves. They plan ahead so they aren't dependent on other people. They don't say that other people "make" them behave the way they behave (i.e., mature people don't say things like "he made me lose my temper" or "he made me upset so I wasn't paying attention and wrecked the car".) If they don't have the resources to get or do something they want, they save until they do.

If some action of theirs would cause problems for other people, mature people don't take that action, even if it's something they want to do. That's because mature people understand that causing problems for others in order to gratify their own whims is the action of an immature person.

Mature people are patient, they are willing to wait. They don't get upset or anxious because things don't happen as fast as they wish they would.

Mature people are willing to acknowledge when they have harmed someone and will do what's necessary to make things right if they have done harm. And they never do harm by choice.

Mature people treat others the way they would want to be treated if things were turned around. They aren't self-centered.

Mature people pitch in to help without being asked when they're in a group situation. They don't whine or object.

Mature people are willing to defer to others when the situation requires it. They understand that everything is not all about them.

I am not going to say act your age because well you have never been your age till now.

Show them you are responsible by taking on more duties around the house with out them asking you to. Help them more, do your school work with out a fight, get serious about school...unless you are already doing this. If you are old enough, maybe get a part time job and show them you can be responsible with your money and not have it spent before you cash the check kinda thing....show them you can make goals and stick with it till you reach them.

hope this helps...ps...use spell check next time before you post. just a suggestion

Do what is expected of you without being asked. Such as homework (especially spelling) and chores. If your mature you know the right thing to do without being told. Don't pout, whine, slam doors or act hateful. Be respectful, and be patient, if this is new behavior it may take awhile for them to notice.

Get a job and pay your own living expenses as much as you can, while also saving money in the bank for later.

Get a Miss Manners book and follow the examples she gives.

Are you living on your own and paying your own bills? If not I would start there.

As for showing your parents, I would have to know A LOT more specifics; however, I would say being educated is also a good start.

Stand tall....respect yourself and respect others.
Don't argue with your elders....even if you disagree.
Don't raise your voice

If you have a list of to do's actually do the list.
If you live at home....follow the rules and help out.
If you go to school, show you care about your future, try.

Best wishes
