Your back on a friend if you were friends from child hood as well as Christians and your friend one day gave up on his/her faith? Or if your friend from childhood were Atheist and one day became Christians? Or would you try to understand the decision and love them in-spite of?

I would only turn my back on a friend if their conversion to whatever they converted to led them to proselytizing and trying to convert me as well. If all we ever talked about was how I needed to convert to their religion, then the relationship has pretty much dissolved into nothingness, so there's really no friendship to turn my back on anyway.

No. I'm a Pagan. Many of my friends were once Pagan and converted to Christianity. We are still close as ever. There's nothing to understand... that is their personal decision, something that had absolutely Nothing to do with me. And did nothing to our friendship.
Now if they had turned Christian and started "beating" me over the head with the Bible, then we'd probably have an argument. But I wouldn't turn my back on them.

You shouldn't judge your friend because of their beliefs or non, regardless of your own.
As long as each friend respects the others choice, and doesn't try to force their own beliefs, then it's the same as it always was and always will be.
My best friend is a Catholic...I'm an Atheist (was Christian until 17). We have been friends now for 21 years...and closer than EVER!!!!

I am a Christian and contrary to popular belief, we would never not be someone's friend because they turned away from their Christianity or if they were never Christian. You don't have as much in common with them after that but you still love them just as much and you would still want to hang out with them.

It depends on their actions following their conversion. I would love them no matter what, but love does not mean letting yourself be abused or demeaned in any way. If they became a shove it down my throat, holier than thou (or smarter than thou) type of person...we would definitely have to redefine our friendship. If they stayed the same friend they have always been then we would continue to be close.
