Sometimes ear infections are caused by temporary viruses you get with cold and flu. I wouldn't be that alarmed unless my doctor says otherwise.

In tinnitus, the sounds a person hears are actually perceptions. Since there's no actual source, they are often referred to as "phantom noises". I read that about 8% of all people in the US suffer from tinnitus so you are not the only one who hears these strange noises.

Tinnitus is actually not a disease. It is actually a symptom of a problem that is rooted deep, somewhere within your body. The problem could be a simple one like an infection in the ear, or even simpler, such as ear wax. Just clear the wax and get the infection treated, and the noises could go away. In some people, it could even be the result of a side-effect of a drug they took. Or it could be more complicated.

If you want to know more about this condition and wnat to learn how to solve naturally your problems with these annoying noises you should read this ebook: http://tinnitus.toptips.org

It helped me a lot.

Not to frighten you but a friend of mine had similar symptons around 5 years ago, same time of year and strangeley the same seasonal conditions! Apparently the mild weather has led to an immense increase in the earwig population and due to the increased demand on their regular food supply the pregnant females go foraging for food indoors. The onset of your original cold increases earwax production, something which gives of a hormanal scent that the hungry pregnant female earwig cannot resist. Anyway back to my friend, when he eventually was referred to an E.N.T specialist they rushed him into hospital after taking what he thought were routine x-rays, astonishingley they removed 87 larva and 47 hatchling earwigs from deep within his ear canal. The hatchlings had eaten through his eardrum and were as they grew working their way towards his brain, he had a lucky escape, totally deaf in one ear now, but the specialist stated that if the hatchlings had been in there another 48 hours they would have eaten into his brain sending him mad within hours and killing him within 12 hours ! So hopefully this isnt your problem but it sounds so like my friends symptoms I would rush to A & E or you could try lying on your side and tempting the evil toothed little devils out with a small piece of smelly cheese placed on the earlobe. Stilton should be good ! Keep us up to date thats unless you go round the bend, by the way do you have enough cheese???

What is the "pulse" sound like? rythmic? try seeing if it matches your hear beat. I bet that it will. It is comming from the branches of the External Carotid arteries. But why you are hearing it in one ear verus both is problalby do to some build up of wax. Even more so it is probably from the bone conduction of sound. But seeing an ENT doc might not be a bad idea as well.

If you are not in pain you dont have anything to worry about !
It could be a build up of wax or it could be fluid in the ear, hearing your heart beat when you are in bed is quite common with ear infections
Wait an see what your doctor says next time you visit him !

Welcome to my world! I used to get ear infections ALL THE TIME when I was growing up!

Seriously - I had a similar problem. Many of the first antibiotics my pediatrician prescribed did not do the trick. In fact, to date (and I'm almost 30), the ONLY medicine that cures my ear infections is Augmentin. You may want to talk to the doctor about it, because NOTHING ELSE helped me at all, and I'm sure that you are craving relief at this point.

Best of luck to you - I know how you feel! :o(

If wax is problem, dr will probably arrange for practice nurse to get ears syringed out with tepid water, and as rest say could be viral infection which sometimes can take months to clear. But do keep at your dr if no improvement.

You can buy OTC ear wax removal kits.
There was a local woman who had 13 kids and used natural remedies for almost everything (who could afford to take 13 kids to the dr??) anyways she told me that she used lemon juice to cure ear aches. FYI

It's just fluid in your ears. Ever see singers hold their ears closed when they hit high notes? They do that so they can hear their voice internally. You're probably hearing your heartbeat internally because your ears are stpped up, not by your fingers, but by the fluid. Your body will drain the fluid naturally.
