I just dont know how they do it!!!! How do they get the movies to fit your screen perfectly. How do they know how they know how big your TV screen is?

It's quite simple. There are two main aspect ratios being used by TV's. 4:3 is the standard or square format. 16:9 is the widescreen or rectangular format.

Most DVD movies come in standard and widescreen. As long as you have a tv that fits one of those aspect ratios, the TV will know how to display it.

So, it doesn't matter how big your TV is, instead it matters what aspect ratio it supports. All the magic is happening within the TV's and DVD players rather than the DVD itself.

well im not sure. but i have some knowledge like dvds come in to ratios as do tv. and there is 16:9 (widescreen) and 4:3 (normal). also tvs use pixels (tiny dots) all different colors and if u have an older tv u can see the pixels. im guessing they stretch the pixels to fit. thats y the old big screens have bad quality
