Me and my husband run our own business from home (it's to do with computers.) We have a few employees but for the most part, we are the one's in charge of administrative work. Since we don't work FOR anyone, we are always busy running it all. We're not "rich" so to speak, and a lot of the times people ask us, "if you work so much, then why aren't you rich?" Or they say stuff like "Yeah, we understand why your so busy because your millionaires" but they are mocking us because we live in a 2 bedroom condo and have 1 car. Why do people ask such rude questions? It's none of their business and I think they should realize that the money someone makes at work goes towards bills, groceries, gas, etc. Everyday necessities. What are your opinions? Serious answers ONLY!

I've found a lot of people who have their own small business have way less money than people who work for someone else. My opinion is that people who ask those questions obviously don't know anything about running a business and they are rude for commenting on how much money someone has. They also may think that it's some sort of 'modesty lie' and that you're living cheaply while stockpiling your millions in a bank account. Mostly, I think they may be jealous that you don't have a boss and confused because not having a boss is supposed to be incredibly easy (so they think)

there is not any longer something rude approximately no longer answering nosy questions. All you will desire to do is smile and say something obscure or deflecting that sends the very sparkling message: "i'm no longer answering that and this line of thinking is rude" yet with out honestly asserting that. It would not even would desire to make experience the way you answer it. as an occasion, in case you opt to baffle the nosy individual into combating it, you will desire to do this: Nosy: "Is that your real hair colour?" You: "Why thank you, you're very sort to word!" Nosy: "............Um, I requested if that replaced into your real colour." You: "Mmmmhm." *sparkling smile* walk away. See what a valuable communication stopper that's? works like a allure :) And is completely well mannered. playstation : If it is relatively irrelevant, alongside with something grimy, you provide an ICY stare and say "How dare you!" and walk away. do no longer take insulting questions. This contains quite own, offensive, sexual or questions that insult your loved ones or significant different and childrens.

on my opinion you have the right to reject any question that you don't like. I really think that when people ask dose questions is because they are really ignorant about how a business work and they believe that because you own something you have money. which on reality you are still paying for it.

Ignorant people usually have no idea they are ignorant and most of the time think they are being quite clever and cute. It doesn't do any good to reply to them because they only think up something even more unacceptable. I find ignoring their remarks (because they usually don't qualify for any acknowledgment) gives them a strong message since ignorant people hate for their remarks to get no reaction.

Be like "yea right and if we were we wouldn't share the wealth with you!" One snide remark and standing up for yourself may do the trick. It's honorable to make your own living and run your own business. Yea, you're making ends meet, but you're living the American Dream. That's priceless.

I have the same problems with my neighbors!

I work from home and make more money than my husband and they are so interested in just how much I make.

I think it has to do with rudeness and them not knowing boundary's. I don't answer them, I just let them know my finances are between my husband and myself!

Few know how how small business owners work. Many have little tact. Just smile knowing you are contributing the what makes America great, perseverance.

it's a stigma. people think that other people that own businesses are automatically rolling in dough. i know better. yes, owning a business is a ridiculous amount of work. you have to do it all. good luck.
