Norovirus, the virus that causes stomach flu, increases in the winter because people are more confined. Around here, it's on a small rampage. I oughtta know -- I do norovirus control for a very large health department.

I'm not sure but one of the ways to check is go to the CDC website, the will have a epidemiology page that will let you know the reports of the Flu in area of the US

Yes it always does this time of year. To keep yourself from getting it practice good hand washing and buy Lysol for home and office and spray hard surfaces that are commonly used by everyone like door knobs, sink levers, toilet lever, refrigerator and stove knobs ect... It will go far to protect you and your loved ones. Oh yeah phones too!
