But over two thirds of the world is NOT Christian!! Does that mean that 4 billioin people are destined to go to Hell?? Come on... what kind of a loving and just God are you do you think this is??? You think God would set the program up for failure and give the majority of souls to the Devil??? I always thought a majority of people would go to Heaven, and only the "bad seeds" would be turned away?????

Another clue... if the only selection process most of us use in selecting a belief, is by being born into it (the religion of our parents), and most of us never change religions after that happens, then it seems to me religion happens to us by "default". Religion by default almost sounds like brain washing, or a form of it anyways, with very little free will involved. Most of us don't choose our religion, just like I don't choose to be white, or you choose to be black. The POINT I am trying to get us to discuss, why is religion so exclusive? Why is the path to Nirvana, or Heavan, or enlightment, usually only available through the religion you happen to be born into. Isn't that the same as saying 90% of all Buddhists, which happen to be Asian, are going to Hell (Christian belief?)... Is God a racist?

The answer is easy. They want to scare you into becoming a "good christain". If they loose their followers then they loose their power. The best motivator is fear, that is why Christianity has been so successful over such a long period of time. Sometimes you have to use common sense. If God really thought that, why would he allow any other religion to exist. And "the devil" is not a valid response. If God is all knowing and all powerful, than he should have no problem with dealing with the devil.

Because people like jinenglish68 and many other Christians don't quite understand the concept of their religion, and use it in a fanatical way (i.e. hatred, racism, prejudice, etc.), causing people like you and I to run the other direction.
I don't believe in hell, so their comments like this are irrelevent...but I do think they have a superiority complex. NOT ALL Christians, but some, feel that Christianity is the only "true" religion, and that all others (the ones that the other 5 BILLION people on the planet practice) are null and void.
Hell for them is a catch all.
Sin=hell
"false" religion=hell
abortion=hell
homosexuality=hell
Unfortunately, they don't realize that ALL people sin in one way or another...so I guess that means they will be right there with us if there is one, right?

I'm sure you will get lotsa specific answers, but I apolagize fir those who act rough and make this out as a sort of threat. Personally what I see is it just the natural consequence and God was nice enough to offer you a way out, kinda like a pardon. If you never did anything malicious though maybe u don't need a pardon, but we both know that is not the case right.

Some people don't know how to explain themselves clearly. I don't know what religion they were speaking of but I do know that accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour is not about religion it is about relationship with Him. Man has made all this religous mumbo jumbo, not God. As far as going to hell, the bible states that you have the choice as to the way you want to go. If you choose Christ then you will live the rest of your life with God and if you don't choose Christ then you will live a life separated from God which is hell...

Everyone who falls asleep in death, goes to the Bible hell--it is only the common grave or place of burial. Even Jesus was in hell for three days--"He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses." Acts 2:31-32
Always remember that God is love and he is a God of justice.
Tell this person that if they die, they also will be in hell (Hebrew-sheol & Greek--hades)

Jesus pleads our cases. His blood washes away our sins, and makes us rightous. It is not our actions that save us, it is his blood which has cleansed us of our iniquities. Without belief in Him, without faith in what He has done, we cannot be saved. It isn't one "relegion" that's better, etc. We all have the same love, the same forgiveness, the same abilities, the same power through Christ, but we get nothing if we don't accept it. It's like having a fortune in the bank, but if you don't know about it, or don't believe it when you are told, it will do you no good. it will still be there, waiting, but you have to believe that, and then TAKE IT!

Ugh, who cares? I'm Atheist and get told a lot that I'll go to hell. Not straight out, but it's like a smug "Jesus is the only way to get to heaven" kind of BS. Well, I disagree. Jesus was a man, and now he's dead, and that is it. I choose to believe that, and if I go to hell in the end, oh well. Don't be bothered by people cramming their beliefs down your throat.

I don't want to accept God and/or Jesus. To me the bible is an inaccurate book translated in different languages and testaments. It was written about what 2,500 years ago? I don't have the desire to believe in God. How can I go to hell if I don't believe in any of that stuff? I don't believe there is physical proof that God exists.

Because it is the best way to spread the belief. You dont want people to go to hell so you tell them how to be saved. Chances are the people will believe you so they join your religion. And it spreads on and on and on.... Pastors make money, Churches get bigger, people give money and follow orders. Perfect system of lies.

That's a primitive fear-based tactic for forcing people to conform. There is no hell. Do what is right because it is right and because it supports an orderly society, which benefits all.
