Hi,
I need a workout routine for a couple of mornings a week that doesnt involve going out in the cold. I used to go the gym in the mornings but my hours at work have changed. Im looking for something that takes around 30 mins, doesnt involve weights etc. just myself, possibly something that will help increse strenght/tone/muscle mass I know I could do sit ups and press ups, is there anything else anybody could suggest to help me.
thanks

If you're willing to invest in a workout video, my personal favorite is Gilad's 45/45 Split Routine. It's 42 minutes of aerobics (7 minute warmup I sometimes skip, 30 minutes of aerobics, and like a 5 minute cooldown). Then there is a 45 minute anaerobic workout (7 min warmup ... you get the idea) .... that includes lower body (lunges, squats), upper body, butt, and abs. There are no weights involved and I love it. It's pretty cheap on eBay - Gilad is great to work out with and his crew is funny. It's the best thing I ever did for myself; I've lost 20 lbs in the past couple months. Good luck :)

I know it sounds lame and a little new-age but Pilates is awesome and covers exactly all the things you are looking for. It will really work your core and help you gain strength, stability and muscle tone. There are a few different types - I recommend Stott Pilates to start you out. It is a great introduction and will show you just how effective these techniques are! You can find DVD's or videos of Pilates workouts online or in your local sports store.

Good luck!

Hmmm . . . something to do by yourself that takes around 30 mins in the morning? pleasure yourself. I've heard most people find that exhilarating.

I recommend yoga, but it isn't for everyone. Try it out and see what you think. You can do it at home and you don't need anything.
