How about the Olympus 752SW, 7.1 mpixels and waterproof to 5 meters.

I think you have a number of options...

Probably the most sensible is to get yourself an Olympus Mju 725SW. It is waterproof to 5m, and shockproof from a 1.5m drop. It probably has to be the best all-round travelling companion of a camera - really rugged, will live through any experience, is beautifully light, but has good weight to it as well - making it feel quite tangible! It also has a lovely big 2" screen on the back. It's 7.1 Mp - so big enough to allow you to get your faves blown up to poster size, it's got a really quick start-up time, and has an anti-shake mode, great for catching fast moving animals and birds, at distance.

Pentax also make a similar type model - the Optio WP - but it is only 6Mp, isn't shockproof, is only waterproof to 1.5m, and has a much smaller screen on the rear!
If you want, however, to get something a little more professional, and SLR, not one of them on the market is waterproof!!! But, help is on hand. Aquapac make some seriously good camera bags, with clear lenses in so that you can take pictures through the bag. All bags (as name would suggest) are waterproof, and they even make them for camcorders!!!

I must admit, I would go for the Olympus Mju 725SW - coz that one day you forget to close the Aquapac bag properly, is the one day you will wish you had bought the waterproof option! Plus, you can get it for around £200, which really is good value!

Unless you are prepared to shell out for some expensive equipment, you would be well served to take a one-use underwater camera. The rain forest is, in the main, dark and very, very humid. You are unlikely to get many panoramic views so you will not need anything like a telephoto lens. The humidity will rot your equipment, your boots and, possibly, your skin. It would be a shame to buy expensive equipment and have it malfunction. I took an out-of-date, by four years, underwater camera with me to Africa and it got great shots. You can always scan them and crop/enhance/enlarge them when you get home.
If you do take a digital camera, be sure to pack it with silica gel sachets, so they will help to absorb the moisture. Have a great time.

Ok, most olympus stylus series (710/720/740) are weather resistant enough to handle rain forrest. I'd prefer the 720SW (shock proof 5ft/waterproof 10 ft)

You can also look at Pentax Optio WP or W10 series for weather restance.

You can get purchase authentic Canon Powershot waterproof casing. I have read it when I have purchased A530 model. It is available for models A540 on above so for your model it is available. That is the cheapest and the safest way.
Also I will suggest you to take extra pairs of rechargeable batteries. As you are going to rain forest be prepare for the electricity cut offs.
Best of luck for your trip.
