I would say so, I can't stand boxing anymore, it's boring to watch, and I used to box! The only thing boxing has going for it's self is De La Hoya VS Mayweather, and that fight is 6 months away, what a joke. and it will probelly be boring. Boxing is dead, they can thank the UFC, and Pride FC, and Don King, if he wasn't so blatantly crooked, then people might jump on the boxing band wagon, again if someone new and exciting comes along, but now who cares! let it die!

Not yet but it is definitely on the ropes at best. Some would say it is being given a standing eight count.

15 years ago boxing promoters fought very hard to keep the UFC out. They had city and state officials banning events. They pretty much riled up all of the little old ladies and said how terrible we all were.

The real reason that they did it was greed. Plain and simply the boxing promoters knew the UFC is what the fans wanted. They threatened cable companies. In so many words it went like this "if you show a pay per view UFC event, we will not allow you to show the next Tyson fight"

.Many of the cable companies buckled to the boxing bullies for years. But the little cable companies who did not saw huge profits by showing the UFC. The people would get what they wanted.

It was/is a true test to find the better fighter. It is also free from the corruption and scandals that have plagued boxing for over 100 years.

It took a lot of hard work and a few rules changes. But now our sport is right for TV and is a far superior product.

Boxing will never be completely dead. But its hey day is over.

As a popular sport of practice, no, as a popular televized product that cable providers sell to people on ppv as entertainment? Most definetly. It's as simple as this, people like more diversity and more brutality, so when you televize mixed martial arts, you get both, boxing is very predictable and it is difficult to develop a better style of fighting. In mixed martial arts, there are a good deal less restrictions, but you had better believe that when i to my mma classes i will take an occasional night and just beat people with boxing, or judo, or only kicks, or only jujitsu (which was mixed martial arts before people knew the term here haha) But no boxing is not dead, just under the radar, mma is far more interesting to watch.

Well let's see, if Oscar DeLahoya made the kind of money Liddell or Fedor made per fight he would shoot himself. He would jump off the highest bridge he could find. Don't fool yourself there is a direct relationship between the amount a fighter is paid and the popularity of the sport. If fighters like Oscar, Pacman, Wlad, Taylor can make multi millions of dollars the reason they can is becasue the fans are willing to pay for it.

Beside the economic arguement boxing has a different kind of action. Becasue the gloves are thicker it usually makes the action last longer. A good boxing match is hard to beat in terms of excitement. Morales - Barrera type fights are great

I still like Boxing, but MMA is more exciting to watch. Their are many great boxers out there, but i get frustrated watching because sometimes the fights take forever to finish and most boxers dont make it exciting to watch. Both are tough sports, but the best boxers will soon retire, like Barrera, Morales, De la Hoya. There is so much you can see in an MMA fight

Well it certainly hasn't been very interesting any more. They need to created a boxing league that comes on every week like the UFC if they want to compete.

The sport may die out but in spirit, boxing never will. How will that be, you ask?

Well... we're always going to punch each other in fighting. That much will never change.

Boxing is so unnatural. How many brains have been damaged due to the standing 8 count? How many boxers have died?
