There is a drug available that blocks cravings--all cravings. It is in the final stage of testing, and should be available to the general public (with doctor's prescription) soon.

The only trouble is, the person has to really want to quit whatever vice it is that is killing him. There are drug addicts that have been cured using this, only to go back on the drugs because "they miss it".

Speak to your doctor. He'll know whether you may qualify for a case study involving the drug.

Actually just abstinence for about 3 days will do the trick. In Hollywood in the old days actors used to get a Doctor to prescribe oxygen.

But the best way is just to quit. I am also an alcoholic whose last drink came on the day of the NASDAQ breaking 5000 - I got drunk that last time because I daytraded a stock and made a killing on my trades but lost everytime I tried the same thing on the same stock on my wife' account. Since stopping I am completely clear-headed.

It's genetic - my dad, my nephew, my grandmother - just like diabetes. You can stop and there are great people in AA and in other areas that can help. It took me three attempts and about15 years total to stop completely. It does not have to be that hard for you as I have stubborn Swedish blood. The first step is to admit that you are powerless by yourself to do anything but ask a higher force to step in.

Best of luck.

Well I am not really sure. I would say drink too much until you puked so you would not want that taste again. Or just try going to some AA meetings and talking to someone with the same problems about it. Have you ever tried non-alcoholic beer? A friend of mine is an acoholic and when she craves she gets that, I believe it is cold Odules. I hope this helps and good luck to you. If that doesn't help you can always turn to God and he will walk you through it.

There is actually a prescription medication that can help you. I have a in-law that is a raving drunk (He passed alcoholic a long time ago.) who just got a prescription for it over the Thanksgiving holidays.
God help him, I hope it works fast!
Otherwise he is loosing his wife, his children, his home, his job and probably his life.
If you are serious about this, call a doctor and ask about it.
A family member who is a doctor recommended it to this in-law. She thinks it's the only thing that will give him a fighting chance.

Good luck and God Bless!

Yes... first go 10 minutes with out a drink when that 10 minutes is over go 10 more keep this 10 minute plan up until you get past it and in the mean time join an addiction recovery program at a love filled church.

I've known drunks who's doctors prescribed Antibuse....if ya drink while taking it you will get sick as hell and it has killed some people that tried to drink while taking it...the bad thing is you have to take it or it won't work so you still have to have the desire to quit.....and ANYTHING that has alcohol in it will cause you to be sick....so ya have to be really careful about perfumes and aftershaves....anything that has alcohol!!!!

Try non-alcoholic beer. It tastes enough like beer but without the alcohol. Good luck

Try L.S.D. or lots of cocaine. Who needs alcohol? If that doesn't work try lots of meaningless sex.

Addiction is actually "trying to become fulfilled by things that, by their very nature, cannot fulfill you." Are you a drunk or an alcoholic? Remember "alcoholics" go to meetings.

I haven't had a craving since I became an alcoholic.

Go to a meeting...seriously. It won't take away the cravings, but it will help you deal with it.
