Predestination and free will get pretty tricky. It sounds like you have already heard about the theory of "The One". So I will give you another view and you can decide.
Picture that life is a huge square. God's will for us is a circle inside that square. We can choose to do things outside of the circle but they are not pleasing to God. There are people inside and outside the circle. You can marry one person inside the circle and be just as happy as if you had married another inside the circle.
I know it sounds corny but I think you understand the point.

I don't believe in predestination - I believe that God gave us free will.

Pro 18:22 - [Whoever] findeth a (p) wife findeth a good [thing], and obtaineth favour from the LORD.

(p) He who is joined with a virtuous woman in marriage is blessed by the Lord, as in (Pro_19:14).

If you FIND is it not you who is making the choice?

However I know that I met my wife to be under circumstances that convinced me that he was directing the events, and I am very glad he did. [53 yrs ago]

I believe God created each individual to be attracted to a certain type of person yet leaves it to our free will to determine which of the multitudes of such type we choose to be with.
This is why it is so important to hear Gods voice in your Spirit when seeking a mate for only He really knows us completely to effectively draw us to the right type of people.
