Yes. I'd be glad to. Pounds are imperial measure. If you want less than a pound, you go to ounces, and there are 16 ounces to a pound, so to find out how much less than a pound of something costs, you have to divide by 16 to find out how many ounces there are, then multiply etc.etc.etc.
Here's how the Imperial measures go.

A dram is 27.34 grains.
an ounce is 16 drams
A pound is 16 ounces
A stone is 14 pounds
A quarter is 28 pounds
A hundredweight is 112 pounds.
There are 2,000 pounds in a short ton, 2,400 pounds in a long ton. It gets confusing.
Now let's look at the metric scale.
1 milligram is 1/1000 of a gram
1 centigram is 1/100 of a gram
1 decigram is 1/10 of a gram
1 gram is the starting point, or standard of measurement.
10 grams is a decagram
100 grams is a hectogram
1,000 grams is a kilogram (that weighs 2.2 pounds)
1 myriagram is 10 kilograms.
1 Quital is 100 kilograms
1 tonne is 1,000 kilograms.

As you will notice everything is in multiples of 10. So to go from one unit to the next, you don't have to divide or multiply by 24 or 14 or 16 or any of that stuff. All you do is move the decimal point. It makes calculations much, much easier, and is the reason that it is used almost everywhere in the world except the United States.

besides the answers above...Kilo is a representative of the Metric system and in this case kilo--short for kilograms meaning 1000 grams in relation to poundage. But it is also used with other measurments.
10-deca
100- hecto
1000-kilo

As far as your confusion--1 kg will equal 2.2 lbs. so a 220 pound man will weigh 100kilograms or the other way is 100kg man will weigh 220 lbs... does this help?

Kilos is short for Kilogram and 1 kilogram weighs 2.2 pounds. A kilogram is part of the metric system and just about every country uses the metric system- the U.S.A. does not... started to push for full metric system back in the 1970's but it never took off.... Pounds are part of the imperial measurement system that is almost obsolete (USA and I believe one other country still use it)
