last week I looked up glycerol alcohol and sodium laurel sulfate and it stated it was a cheap poison and the US FDA encourages manufacturers to stop its use- but its not required by Fed law. Today i looked up the same ingred. and it now states That the FDA determined pro.gly. as "generally recognized as safe". Who has the power to change the definitions and change wikipedia?

As stated above, it is public access. If you go to an article, you will see at the top that there is a HISTORY tab. Click on that and you can see a bit about who updated what and when. This often helps figure things out. But ALWAYS double-check information up there. The 3 AM graffiti guys are out there, ruining these pages all the time! Although, they do have protection on some of the pages - VIEW SOURCE will tell you if that is the case.

In short, (and with a few exceptions) anyone with access to the internet can modify a Wikipedia entry. All one has to do is click on the "edit this page" and change a page.

Pages can be protected from allowing people to edit them, if you have an account (and had it for more than a couple days) you can edit most pages. A very select group of pages are restricted to administrators only.

You can also be blocked from editing if your IP has vandalized multiple times recently.

wiki means anybody/everybody can add change edit the contents. I would only trust it for general information and take it with a grain of salt. Just like yahoo answers. "Wikipedia is a free, open content, community-built encyclopedia with thousands of articles on topics from A to Z."
There is group that tries to keep tabs on theatening and obviously incorrect information but they are only a few people!
