You can't control them. But you can learn to enjoy their company, they will soon start loving you and will listen to you. There is a give & take in every relationship. You listen to them and they will listen to you.
If you know kite flying, you must be aware that the more you let lose the higher it goes and better is the control. Give them their space to express themselves.
Don't shout... as someone has advised. It looks to be the best way initially but soon you will lose your temper. When you are out of control, you can't control others.
Love the children dear... you belonged to their gang a few years ago... did you listen to the prefect? Enjoy the noise... don't worry about the school teachers, you don't get paid for being a prefect !!
Love is the best way to control anyone.

Hi!! I used to work with first graders when I was in college for one of my class requirments. The one thing that I know works the best in positive reinforcement. When a child is behaving make a point to say to the whole class that how well that child in behaving. For example if someone straight off listens to you say "Wow "name here" you are really doing a great job following directions" and then give them a treat at the end off class. Then the other kids will want to recieve those treats aswell and they may also start behaving. You dont have to give them anything big, kids love small pieces of candy of stickers. This is an easy and inexpensive way to get control of the class. I dont suggest yelling or scolding because even if they listen to you it will be out of fright and not because they want to listen to you. Kids at this age should enjoy school not dread going because they are afraid they will get in trouble. Good luck with the kids!!

Hi, Hot_6teen. Just for a minute you please think back as to how were you at the age of those kids. Better ask your mom to know how naughty you were at that age. That age is ebulient stage of life. Kids are so hasty to know anything and everything under the sky. They trouble us by asking varied and innumerable questions and we wouldn't be able to answer them all. You become mentally as a kid and play with them. Deal them patiently. If you have reading habit, please go through any textbook of child psychology. Instead of controlling them, try to convince them. Don't become crazy. Become inquisitive and innovative. Patience and hardwork would definitely help you to succeed. Good Luck!

kids always tend to do the opposite of what you tell them . it depends on your voice and action kids tend to sense if you are nervous so handle them with cofidence. befriend them first if there is a naughty child scold him looking at that even the others will know you are not what you look like.all the best for the task.

Try talking in a low but firm voice. They will have to stop what they are doing just to hear what you are saying.

Get their names and report them to the princepal or offer week-long detention. That'll teach 'em.
