Plantar warts can be painful. But the fact that it is caused by a virus means that you could all the antibiotics in the world and it will not cure it. If the skin has broken and or you have been picking at it and it has become red might indicate that there is a possible infection starting and then Yes the antibiotics will help. Also maybe some ibuprofen might not be a bad idea to help the pain.

The antibiotic ointment will not help or harm. Is it one of those flat warts with black specs on your foot? If so it is a plantars wart and when I worked for dermatologist they put this thick liquid that was brown on it and you wash it off the next day and it leaves huge blister and usually requires multiple treatments. The liquid was made from african stinging beetles poison. The way doctors treat warts is to stimulate the immune system to that area by irritating the area and then your immune system kicks in and fights the virus harder.
The doctors also warned that the plantar wart virus can live for years in carpet ect and to spray with mild bleach solution to keep from spreading and not to let people wear your shoes. I know it hurts to walk on it because I had them in my 20's but I picked it out with tweezers and they didn't come back. But I had a big whole where it was and it hurt and I guess I was just lucky not to get infection but I didn't have money or insurance and it worked.

Antibiotic ointment is for bacteria, warts are viruses.
You'll have to go to a doctor and get it burned, or frozen.
I had one about 30 years ago when I was young, and they froze it; it was painful.
They aren't as painful, now.

I agree with the previous post. An antibiotic ointment will not clear up the wart since it is viral in nature.

Salt water is best! Salty like tears, not the ocean. Too much salt will dry and irritate more. Warm it up to a comfortable temperature and soak 15minutes twice a day. Visit the APP website for more info!
