I would definitely go to the doctors. That sounds pretty unusual. S/He will be able to tell you straight away what the problem is.
You know what the answer is going to be though don't you ... don't smoke.

You could be getting yourself sick just from coughing so hard or there could be other problems. You failed to mention weather you had a productive cough (phlegm or blood being produced when you cough) if so what color is it? If it is yellow or greenish, you most likely have an infection that will need to be treated with antibiotics. You are still a bit young to have the smoking be the primary cause of the cough, but it will prolong your recovery.
Good Luck

Excessive mucous caused by smoking...coughing/regurgitation in result because the body is trying to rid itself of it. I lived in an apartment that was infiltrated with some bastards smoking EVERYDAY! I would always have excessive mucous in my chest and throat and my body's instinct was to try and cough it up. Have in mind that I DO NOT SMOKE and never have. I suffered from bronchitis and alway seemed to get sick living in that fukking hole! Took two trips to the emergency room and a bronchospasm to get out!. You need to stop smoking and as a result of that, you've damaged your lungs and bronchi/-al. The body produces the phlegm to rid them of the (trapping) pollutants being inhaled.
Save your life and quit while you're still young...

Cutting down or giving up might help - it's probably caused by excess mucus in the nasal passages which gets into your throat
and when you cough - the chain reaction causes you to retch and bring up what you've eaten recently. So smoking may not be the only problem - you may just have excessive mucus - but get yourself checked out anyway.

Wouldn't worry too much mate. if your coughing up a lot of phlegm (spit it down the toilet or something), make sure you dont swallow it. This can cause nausea, and during a coughing fit it may all come back up... try cutting down a bit for a week or so to see if it make any difference if you want. Id personally just live with it and keep enjoying my delicious ncotine hits though.

I know its hard but give up smoking then go to Dr's.
If you have bronchitis it could last for 6 weeks and will not go away with antibiotics
You would be prescribed antibiotics to prevent secondary infection
