Our church has a missions in a small town outside of our town- where a lot of gang violence is- they go out there and play basket ball with some of the teenagers and share the gospel- they have barbecues out there too...its pretty cool. Our church also has a ministry in Mexico- taking food to the poor there. I think its orphanages. I went when I was a teenager and I would love to go back sometime...I also love the angel tree ministry at Christmas time- where you buy a gift for a child who's parent is in jail- and the present is from them, but you buy it since they cannot get one and it is for parents who want their children to know they love them- and I know many christian organizations who share the gospel in prisons. Prison ministries. Also OCC ministry- buying small gifts to fill a shoebox for children in 3rd world countries. There was one time- and I need to do this again! I took my kids around and we gave sack lunches to the homeless- we made sandwiches and things and just gave out several lunches and we put gospel tracts in with them- we also prayed before we left and asked the Lord to lead us in the right direction- and to who the Lord wanted us to. I really loved doing that- as did my kids.

While I don't believe in an ordinary Christian, there are so many ministry oppurtunities... Use your life, and the grace you have to reach out.
Are you a vet? Visit the VA hospital.
Can you cook? Take a meal to the local motorcycle shop or to your favorite mechanic.
Healed from drugs and alcohol? Let someone know how you lived. And how you live in Christ.
Unmarried teen all grown up? Teach some abstinence and Godly living.
Abused wife? Help someone else along the way who is there now.
Children lost by a drunk driver? Cry with them and help in healing.
Listen to the needs, Have empathy for the Lost, Offer Jesus where people are at, meet them at the well, and offer the living water.
this is my husband and my life, where we were and what we do now.

Do the jobs no one else wants to. Clean bathrooms. I heard about this church that cleans bathrooms as a minstry they go to gas stations and clean them for them. There are lots of things like that. Stuff no one wants to do. The key is do it cheerfully and with love. And when people ask "Why are you doing this?" Tell them. I think it is great that you guys want to do something. Another idea. I go to a church in the city and every year we have a huge blow out on labor day at one of the parks. We invite people from the community to come out and bring the kids. Every year we run out of hot dogs because so many more people come than we think. We served three to four thousand hot dog alone this year. We have kids games and prizes, sports tournament and a band/entertainment. Every person that come gets a tract and info about the church in either english or spanish. It is interesting when we go into the community people say "oh yeah I know that church you guys do that thing at the playground on labor day."

The Christmas Shoebox ministry thru Billy Graham.
Host a Thanksgiving Dinner for homeless, needy, lonely
Do a food drive for the needy then give them boxes with Christmas Dinner fixin's.
Our church does a back to school cookout. We spend the year collecting used childrens clothing. Then advertise for families to come. The families get to eat lunch, choose clothing, backpacks, school supplies (notebook paper, pencils, pens, pencil boxes, crayons etc). This is an excellent ministry to help single parents and families in need with back to school expenses.
Give Christmas gifts to seniors in the area or at the local nursing homes.

Family. Neighbors. Community. Locality. Region. State. Country.
Local. National. International.
Open your eyes, look. There are millions of needs. Feed the neighbor who lives on welfare and is very old and alone. Support a group working in a place of need. Go to places where you can lift the spirits of people (rest home, long term health care, orphanages, public parks)
No need to ask, it is right in front of you

Whatever your ministry does let it involve the young and the elderly.Go to the nursing home and sing carols.I was a activity director for years and the residents always enjoyed the carolers.Take some of the younger ones and let them sing, too. The young are our future and the elderly our legacy.Touch them any way you can---the deed will always be rewarded...Let me know what the plan is, I think it ill do great whatever it is..ib2pikee@yahoo.....Be blessed.

Start in your own back yard. Start with respecting and loving your neighbors, fellow workers/employees/employers, people on Yahoo Answers!, your grocery clerk, etc. Go about your Fathers business.
Pray that God leads you to utilize whatever gifts and talents he has blessed you with that may bless others. Let it be a natural transformation of God's Spirit manifesting Himself through you.

Deppend on your community, you can do youth program, like basket ball game, teach teenager how to play music instrument, etc.
For women, maybe a support group for single mom, stay home mother etc. (We need encouragement too )
For men, do like steak and eggs breakfast, fishing
For elderly, go to nursing home and play chess with them, or simply just listen to their story.
The most important things is to bring this people to church without intimidating them. Show them that you love them and care for them. :) GOD Bless

Welcome baskets for newly arrived immigrants - and make the welcome real. They have been through enough unwelcoming stuff already, the change would really do them good.
Find out from the town hall where there are elderly folk that cannot get out, and go offer to do chores for them, groceries, etc.
Smile at street people, ask them what they want in their coffee, and go get them one (or offer them the option of going into a coffee place with you - then invite them to talk and actively listen to them).

ninety 8% of all hospitals in the US have been based by making use of Christian docs and or Christian companies. Is blindly throwing stones an atheist previous time, or is that in basic terms you? no longer in basic terms have you ever insulted Christians however the ethical Atheists, and regrettably your self. Have a large day.
