After receiving a call from a friend who was at the doctor's office after spraining her anckle and needing a ride home, she called me. I told her I would be there as soon as I could.
An inexperienced driver in snow and ice, I did my best to
scrape ice and snow off of my car which took about an hour, all the while, worrying about her sitting there and waiting for me.
I finally got on my way, worrying all the way and scared of an accident on the ice. I guess my mind wasn't on it enough because I went through a stop sign without stopping. A car pulled out from the stop sign on my right, not stopping either. There was almost an accident but we both stopped in time.
Well I got to the doctor's office, tried to help her to the car, all the while slipping on the ice myself. Just as we got into the car, an off duty police officer walked up to the car. He had followed me and was watching and waiting until we got settled before approaching, not to offer help, but to arrest me.

He did nothing to the other guy. It was a rich neighborhood. Needless to say, he had to call another officer because he was off duty. She let us go after hearing our story. I think he was a jerk. What do you think?

officers have each good to be certain that they are risk-free. of course THEY theory your female buddy did something that warranted getting the canines out - and because they had to get you the two out of the motor vehicle, they had to be certain which you have been unarmed. whilst i'm doing pat-downs, I continually be certain that a minimum of two human beings pat down an identical individual - because of the fact there have been too many situations the place "unarmed" people who were checked, nevertheless had a hid weapon on them. you're saying your g/f exceeded the cops that had pulled somebody over - did she pull over to the a techniques left lane, or decelerate? Granted, I wasn't there, yet i could wager that she did no longer. this would very certainly be considered as relatively risky to the police that have been on scene. IF (repeat, IF) this replaced into the case, then it appeared which you made an dangerous or intentional probability against the officers - and that they made particular that it did no longer take place returned.

You should have asked for proof he was a police officer. No police officer would ARREST someone for a moving violation. Give you a ticket yes, but arrest you? If you have information on the officer you should either raise it as a point with the police chief, or contact a lawyer. Arrested for a moving violation is not right.

Technically you are both in the wrong, since neither of you stoppped. The normal rule of the road states that if you both arrive at the stop sign at the same time the car to your immediate right has the right-of-way. But we all understand your "insult to injury" being the only one cited.

Any driver who fails to stop at a stop sign is in violation of the law. If there had been an accident, you both would have been equally at fault. In this case, you broke the law, so you should have expected any cop in view to bust BOTH of you, but of course one cop can't be in two places at once, so he chose you, probably because it sounds like you ran the stop sign first.

Sounds as though you should rather be counting your blessings - first that you did not have an accident, second that you didn't get a ticket or worse from the law.
