Normally but there are many lay ministers that are not paid. The salary paid is not ever what a person who works as hard, and has the level of education required could get doing anything else. This kind of "work" is a labor of love and not a love of money.... Jim

Ok my dad is a preacher and this is how it works... the pastor makes and agreement with the church... some pastors preach for no money and hold a job thru the week for income. SOme preachers are known as part time pastors.. this is where they preach all the time and get payed a certain amout for each sermon but they also have a full time job thru the week. and then there is a fulltime pastor. these pastors go to church thru the week like it was their normal job and they do things like the upkeep of the church and go out visiting people in the hospitals and nursing homes and they get payed a salary in the amount to where they make enough they dont have to have any other kind of job... these kinds of preachers are mostly in the larger churches with a lot or regularly attending members. Hope I helped!

Ordinarily, a Pastor's position is salaried. They hardly ever get paid what they are worth, however. They go to homes during crisis, visit those sick or dying in hospitals and hospices, counsel people in need, plus, they must study and prepare their messages.

As to whether they would preach or not, I know some pastors who work a "real" job to provide for their families, and still do all the other stuff I mentioned above. Preaching is a calling. As Paul said, "...woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!" (I Corinthians 9:16)

Depends on the church itself how the pastor is paid. Many pastors get their pay from offerings from the congregation and after bills are paid, is not much at all. Some pastors dont recieve any pay for preaching and have other jobs but people complain they should spend more time for God and His people than one or 2 days a week making someone else rich. So whether a pastor is paid, paid high, paid low.... people wont be pleased.

It depends on the church. And no, it doesn't mean if they weren't paid they wouldn't preach. It means that by having a salary, they are able to dedicate their time to taking care of the congregation, preparing teaching and preaching, sometimes doing church administration. If he were not given a salary, as sometimes happens, then he does the best he can with the time he has. But the church cnnot get the same services, of course.

Most of the time it is salaried, and should be according to the book of Corinthians. But it doesn't mean that if they wern't paid they woudn't preach. There are many many pastors out there who are either preaching for nothing, or preaching at their own expense. God promises to pay our full salary when we get to heaven.

A workman is worthy of his hire. Ive known some who preached for very little, but most have families to support and would have to work an extra job to make it . Pastors are called on night and day and are expected to do funerals and weddings, in addition to preaching and reading and praying.

It varies by church. Some of the smaller ones are simply by whatever people donate, so many pastors of smaller churches need a second job. Pastors of large churches typically have a salary chosen by a group committee.

Yes it is. Most churches even provide you with a house. Plus you always have people around that need your help and guidance. Hey I sometimes wish that I got into that. People already know me as basically an Atheist so they would know that I am just, taking advantage. But I tell you the Pastor who Married me and my wife $450 and I think he was going to another one right after mine.
