Both my cable TV DVR and my DVD Player have component cable outputs. I want to connect them to my HD-TV but there is only 1 set of imputs on my TV. I can't connect them both, but I want to. Do I need some type of special box or a splitter or something so I can get them both connected to the TV? I tried routing one through the other (DVR to DVD player and vice versa) but it's impossible. Please help!

Best way is to purchase an av receiver that has video switching. They will have multiple component inputs and a component output. You will send all your audio and video to your receiver, then you will have one or two video cables from your receiver to your TV. It makes a cleaner setup. These AV receivers are inexpensive. You can find one for about $200-$300. Plus, you will get better sound and surround sound as well. Go to your local Best Buy, Circuit City or Fry's and the salesperson will show you.

If you have a satellite service, follow this 2 easy steps: 1. Connect 2 coaxial cables that are coming from your dish to SAT IN 1 and SAT IN 2 jacks at the back of your DVR. Note If you have just 1 cable connect in SAT IN 1. 2. Connect a coaxial cable from OUT to TV jack in your DVR to ANTENNA IN jack in your TV. Optional.- You can use RCA cables (Red, white and yellow) instead of coaxial for a better picture (from OUT on your DVR to IN on your TV. Note: Do not use HDMI cable unless you have an HD DVR, HD Television and HD service. If so you will need audio cables as well (Red and white or optical). - Don't forget to activate your DVR service with your TV provider.

You can get a switcher for component video. I found this one http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/40-814.html
but you may also need to switch the audio as well. Google "component video switch".
