Just started dating a wonderful young lady, but i've known here forever. She's not the typical girl though. She's a church girl, pastors wife, responsible young adult type. Jewelry is out of the question. I've tried simply prying for a wishlist, but I get nowhere. help me with some ideas.

Something that can be interpreted as sweet by her (which is what you want), but just friendly and normal by her family (which I'm guessing is also what you want), would be a good book. A book you really liked and helped you, not too romantic- that would be too big a hint and I can tell you want to be subtle. Something thought provoking and interesting. That's the perfect gift for this situation- it's not corny, like a joke book, not all purpose, like candy, and not overly romantic, like jewelry. It's something she will keep and enjoy, and make her think about you and how thoughtful you are to search for the perfect gift. Traditionally, boyfriend/girlfriend gifts should NOT be jewelry- so you've got the right idea.

I did this for my girlfriend once and it went over really well. Women find presents that took thought and creativity wonderful. Purchase some sort of jelwery box or something nice (does not have to be a jewlery box), perhaps in the shape of a heart. Then, on nice paper you write 50 (or how ever many you choose) reasons why she is loved. Then you seperate each reason, fold them neatly, and place them in the box. It's thoughtful, creative, and unique. Whenever she needs a pick-me-up, she can take one out of the box and read it.

If you don't find that the best idea, also try perfume or body wash products. You can't go wrong that way.

Hope that helps.

You need to find out what she enjoys doing. For example: reading, knitting, art(drawing or painting), aroma theraphy, going to a decent theater or musical etc. I'm sure if you hang around her you will pick up on some ideas that she likes and dislikes. The more time you spend together the easier it will be to decide. Why is jewerllery out of the question? Is this coming from you or her? A nice hat and scarf is a great idea. Or maybe a pair of leather gloves. Hope this helps. Cocoa

In your conversations with her, listen to the things she likes doing. Does she like a certain Christian group--do they have a cd out (or any other music she prefers). Does she have hobbies---gift certificates to her favorite shopping destination may work. What type of dates do you go on? Could you make her a coupon book of things you can do together that she can cash in on... A promise of a date to a dinner and movie, you will wash her car, etc. I would personally love a car cleaning certificate because my time is so limited to do it properly myself or how about a self-care certificate for a pedicure, manicure, massage. There are options of gift baskets of her favorite things--perhaps some natural bath products, slippers, candles, candle holder, candle snuffer. Possibilities are endless with gift baskets. Happy Holidays!

Jewelry should never be out of the question. That's what all women want. Jewelry last forever. It doesn't have to be an engagement ring. It can be a nice charm, necklace, bracelet etc. Perfume should be out of the question.

You didn't give us a lot of information to work with on this one.
Part of this depends on your budget. What is the price range you are working with? How old is this girl?

Some suggestions:

A CD of a Christian Rock Band
A charitable donation in her honor
Have a star named for her
A trip to a day spa
A hot air balloon ride

sounds like if you made her something, it wouldn't really matter what it would be, she would Cherish it. or you might want to make her a nice little card (it doesn't have to be perfect) and get her some candles or flowers... just spend some time walking threw some stores. i know i wouldn't really care what my boyfriend got me as long as he spent some time shopping and thinking about what i would like or what i would need... I'm sure it really is the thought that counts with this girl... she doesn't need expensive jewelry or bags... i sure just a few Little things to show her that you appreciate and care about her would do just fine! hope i help and good luck!

Jewelry is a romantic gesture. Since she's a church girl, does she wear a cross? If so, you can get her a nice gold/diamond cross pendant necklace.

Give her a new bible that has her name embossed onto the cover, along with a nice design as well. Or maybe some Angel and Jesus figurines that she can display on a shelf.
