It can, if you both feel very horny and are ok with it. It might feel silly when you first think about it, but after being away from each other for a long time... :)
But the most important thing is just talking, that will keep you more connected! You might even get to know your partner better, since the only way to feel a bit together by talking. When you are together in the same room you might not talk as much.
Also, I would suggest trying some internet voice chat program or something like that, then it's free. Using a webcam is also very nice of course.

No, if you are have a long distance relationship and having sex over the phone all you are doing is getting him or her hot so when your call is done he or she is ready for some sex and will go get some., and you will never know will you.You need to fine someone in your home town to love and care for,long distance relationships just don't work out.
