ok i re-read that and it didn make sense but what im trying to say is how can adam have been "made" around 4500 BC when man had already walked the earth?? we have dated the human race to be 3 million years old, and thats way before adam and eve, because i was reading an article talking about the genesis and it said that they found documents dated back to the time of adam that were from 3500 BC. so its physically impossible if god is real, for him to creat the first man after man had already been here.

I'm impressed that you're actually reading this book yourself,(unlike most "believers" who get most of their info. from others).
I hope you will be honest in your reading, and not be persuaded by others not to use your brain but to believe everything you read there.
You can be a strong, moral person w/o believing things that don't make sense to you.
If a story sounds like a fairy tale, don't be afraid to admit it.

This is an interesting question that takes some strong assumptions and odd comparisons. First, we would have to put our faith in flawed dating techniques from certain scientists. The idea that the earliest humans lived 3 million years ago is just a theory that many have accepted as fact because they feel safe doing so. Like we've seen in the past, this date will continue to grow so that evolutionist can try to make their theories work.
Moreover, this idea is based on the assumption that evolution is true. That is an entirely different question.
Last, how can we contrast biblical account with evolution? The ideas contradict each other. So, you would have to rephrase your question; and ask individually about all of the things that are assumed to be true.
By the way, why not be an adult about this and refrain from comments calling people or their beliefs stupid. If you ask a question, be mature - read the answers and go...or read the answer and refute...grow up.

Reconciling science to religious belief is just such a red herring.
Believe it or not much of science is actually a type of belief system as well built upon an assumptions that are constantly being refined and reassessed. I can't say one way or another, but it is possible that the whole house of cards has been built on some faulty early/primary assumptions which, if wrong, invalidate the vast accumulation of assumptions that were made on top of them.
Go a little easy on the arrogance there, dearie... no one was actually there at the beginning (if there even is recognizable/fathomable one) all we can do is judge the knowledge that has been past down through time and/or pick up a few rocks at them real close and decide how to make the most sense of it all. I know which side I tend to favour.

Just how long was Adam in the garden? Was he there a year 10, 1,000, 50,000.... The Bible doesn't say. It wasn't until he sinned that he was put out and started to age. The bible also has huge gaps in the genealogy of the Adamic race. If there was no event that happened for 15, 20, maybe 50 generations they were skipped... How many.. The Bible doesn't say... You must understand this isn't a history book, it isn't a book of science... It is a Book of Faith... So if you want to know natural history I would find a book on that subject, if you want to to understand God's dealings with man then the Bible is your book.... Jim

OK, man judges time as 24 hours in a day. The Bible says one day in the sight of God is like a thousand years. Meaning time has no meaning to God. Why not a million or a billion years. He created everything in 6 days, right? Well there was darkness on the face of the deep in the beginning. So 24 hr. days didn't exist.
The Bible also tells us that giants walk the earth....Dinosaurs???
Everything is not black and white when it comes to the Bible. Only God knows its complete meaning. We can only assume.

The metaphor answers above are correct. But I'd like to add that you should not accept the 3 million year date on face value. First we need to define what criteria constitutes 'human'. The hominid species first appeared between 5.5 and 7 million years ago. They walked perfectly upright, just as we do.
The 3 million to 2 million years ago dates, comes from a definition that includes large brains, upright walking and tool making.
The first humans who were as anatomically modern as you or I, did not appear until as late as 70,000 to 50,000 years ago. Further studies show that the last increase in brain size may have occurred as recent as 8,000 years ago.
Furthermore, recent DNA evidence indicates all humans alive today share a common ancestor as recent as 150,000 years ago.

You are taking two different ideas and asuming that they are one. The Bible and Man's ideas are two completly different things. One should never get the two mixed up. Adam was the first man, and he walked the earth about 7,000 years ago. So guess what? That is really all the older the earth is.

This is one of those things, that God will have to explain Himself. Where does it say that the first human lived 3 million years ago?

We have no idea how long he lived in the Garden of Eden before he was cast out. And yes, the Bible says men lived longer then Noah lived to be 500, so its entirely possible.
Read it again. It does NOT say how long Adam was in the Garden.
