Even with people who have experience with immigration, they think that it is the illegal immigrants fault for the wait times of the legal immigrants. They say that immigration is to busy focusing on the demands tht the illegal immigrants are making, when in reality, the people in the immigration office that process the paperwork have nothing to do with the demands of the illegal immigrants. It is congress that has to deal with deciding what if anything they are going to do about the illegal immigrants demands. It is congress that makes the laws that immigration is supposed to enforce. However, they have a whole different section of people who do search and captures and what not of the illegal immigrants, and they have nothing to do with those that process the paperwork.
The backlog of paperwork has always been. The immigration offices do not have enough people to process the paperwork, then since 9-11 they requirements of paperwork have grown to a crazy level, and that has just added to the time.
Even if amnesty was created for the illegal immigrants that are here now, that does not put them to the front of the line for those that are waiting legally. Immigration papers when received are stamped with the date, and then they are handed out to the different workers, then they are worked on in order of receipt.

The government does decide how long legal immigrants have to wait but how are they supposed to spend time on that when illegal immigrants are coming here demanding amnesty and making a big fuss? Illegal immigration is such a hot topic right now that government is under pressure to do something about the illegal immigration, while legal immigrants get forgotten about.
Look at this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061129/us_nm/usa_greencard_dc
Plus if we have millions of illegal immigrants, that is going to make the government accept less legal ones.

It doesn't. The two things that determine wait time are statutes and backlog. The wait time will increase if illegal aliens are eventually given the ability to apply for adjustment to status and there is no increasing in staffing. That's why there will need to be a way to give priority to people who have been going through the process legally from the beginning.

I am trying to sponsor my brother in law. They want more proof than they did before, they questioned the fact that my huband and him have different last names, and the waiting period is going to be longer. If they weren't so busy worrying about the illegal immigrant situation, they would probably be able to process his paperwork faster.

The illegals have nothing to do with the wait time. They are ruining it for the legal immigrants because they have done everything by the book, and if they give amnesty to the illegals, it would make all their efforts of abiding by the law worthless, and citizenship meaningless.

criminal immigrants come right here because they have both a job with an corporation who sponsors them or a relations member that sponsors them and promises to help them. To get an corporation to sponsor them, they prefer to teach that they don't look to be doing a job an American is accessible to do. (note that this isn't the case with H1-Bs, yet then they're no longer immigrants until eventually they get someone to sponsor them for the golf eco-friendly card.) once someone is admitted as a criminal everlasting resident, they ought to not might want to go away until eventually they commit a cime of moral turpitude or supply up their residency through prolonged continues to be overseas places. i might want to favor to be sure Congress addressing the delays in processing applications and in implementing the regulation, fairly than attempting to come across a fashion to cajole individuals that amnestying 20 million unlawful extraterrestrial beings is sturdy for us. as an party, area of the postpone is by way of old desktops. the position's the money and mandate for fixing that?

Of course illegals are to blame for legal immigration wait times, and for it being difficult. Illegals ruin it for legals by forcing the government to tighten immigration laws to make it harder to get into the US. Illegals ruin it socially for legals by creating bad stereotypes against immigrants in general. Economically they ruin it by pushing wages down because of the cheap labor they accept.

They do this because they don't know or they're too damn ignorant to realize that illegal immigrants have NOTHING to do with the wait times for legal immigration. That and they don't realize because of their ignorance that maybe it's time to fix the immigration system to rid it of its red tape.

The more of them that pour into our borders and squirt out anchor babies, the more necessary it will be to impose immigration quotas.
