When you start to have really feelings for a girl you are dating, do you stop calling her, and gradually detach yourself? Is there too much at stake, so you run away?
This seems so backwards to me. I guess men aren't really socialized to deal with their emotions. What do you think?

Some men are not able to deal with feelings, and therefore should not ask a woman out to begin with, but I think the more secure, honest men can and will stay with someone.

If I stop calling a girl, that means I'm not interested in her. It's not because I can't deal with my emotions. It's because I am no longer interested. Sounds like this guy fed you a bunch of lines to get what he wanted and now he is gone.

Depends on the guy...some deal with emotions better than others...
...although women are also guilty of assigning emotions to guys that don't exist...perhaps said guy just isn't really into the girl, had the fun he wanted to have (or didn't have it) and moved on...it just feels better for us to think he really liked us and couldn't handle it, rather than that he was never really into us in the first place...

I have recently experienced this and I detached myself. not because i am socially challenged, but because the girl didnt feel the same and I hate having feelings when they arent mutual. So maybe you arent trying hard enough and he doesnt know. tell him how u feel, and show him too. ;) you know what i mean.
This is all wanted well going through this experience. because of the lack of affection on her part she missed her chance and we rarely talk now. hope this is helpful

no way I'd keep on calling her e-mailing her or whatever and I know how to deal with my emotions it's easy like that burning feeling have about a girl

I don't call my girlfriend alot, but it's because I'm usually busy. As long as the guy makes sure the girl knows he cares everythings fine. Plus it makes you want to call us more, right? Then we feel even more wanted and if you don't overdo it then we'll want to call you even more too. Hope that helps.

Its the opposite actually...at least with me... If I start to have feelings I want to spend more time with her, I call her, send her texts, and flowers...
I don't know what to tell you... I am also stumped... Doesn't make sense...
BTW, how do you know he has feelings for you? Has he said anything? Shown it?

no not really. but maybe the guy likes you a whole lot but deep down knows he is a jerk and doesn't want to hurt you even though in the back of his mind knows he will.....so he distances himself
